Banksy's vandalism is also a crime.

How do they know its Banksy art?
Instagram post by Banksy

The piece -- a red stop sign with three military drones on it -- debuted at the corner of Commercial Way on Friday. Banksy posted photos of the work on his Instagram account with no caption.
Shortly after the work appeared, a man was captured on film and in photos removing the sign with bolt cutters and running from the scene.
My favorite Banksy has been the one that sold at auction, then the frame immediately shredded it.

when, in 2018, the artist's "Love is in the Bin" painting half-shredded itself while being auctioned at Sotheby's London.

Banksy is a glorified graffiti artist. I said it.
I mean, that's not really a hot take.
I like his art though. I like the intrigue of not knowing who he is/never seeing him as well honestly. Most of the places he paints are run down areas or abandoned buildings, it's not like he's ruining historical buildings or something. It's become pretty cliche to hate on him.

Mates I'm a huge Banksy enthusiast. I actually have a recreation of his famous "Cheepard or Jagther?" work from outside the Bronx Zoological Gardens hanging in my boudoir.

Don't get the hype over Banksy shite... or that stupid Blue Dog
Posted on 12/26/23 at 3:46 pm to terd ferguson
Rodrigue's blue dog was more of a cheap gimmick. Banksy is far superior an artist, I'd rank him with Christo in that his brilliance is it's accessibility to the masses.

All the Banksy stuff looks like stencils... the guys that do the eye at Tiger Stadium could be Banksy

Yea that was pretty awesome.
I always liked this one for some reason.
We named our cat Banksy because we're the only two people that have seen her. As soon as someone comes over she hides and doesn't come out.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work was entirely self-funded, and they never accepted donations. Instead, they would sell preparatory drawings, collages, scale models, and original lithographs to raise the significant sums required.

Surrounded Islands (Miami, 1980–83)
For the striking pink installation that took over Miami in 1980, Christo and Jeanne-Claude encircled 11 islands in the Biscayne Bay with 6.5 million square feet of fabric. While the project was initially met with some concern from wildlife activists and residents, the artists worked closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state and county regulators in order to ensure its safety. The detailed preparations were on view in early 2019 in a documentary exhibition at Pérez Art Museum.

Wall of Oil Barrels/The Iron Curtain, (Paris, 1961–62)
the piece was read by many as a powerful political statement on the Berlin Wall, which had been erected the year before.
quote:
What Jeanne-Claude and I do is borrow that space and create a gentle disturbance for a few days.” The work was a precursor to the 2018 The London Mastaba, where 7,506 painted barrels floated on London’s Serpentine Lake.

Nobody ever sees the guy doing his vandalism for some reason...
I guess the police don’t care

No different than this;
It's vandalism and calling it such isn't "cliché" just because you love it to the point you named your cat after a graffiti "artist".

No different than this;
Painting a $20 stop sign that can be replaced in 15 minutes is quite a bit different than ruining a train boxcar that would take days and thousands of dollars to fix or replace you doofus

Huh. Where did I say it wasn't vandalism?

I used to golf regularly at the course where they did Valley Curtain. I learned about it because of this photo in the clubhouse.

Sure, "Bansky" defaces a stop sign and it is art, but when I painted a dick and balls on one back in '04 it was a misdemeanor charge.

Banksy did numerous pieces around nola shortly after Katrina for those of you unaware but in typical nola culture most were defaced and destroyed. One hotel has one on display in their lobby that they rescued
The nola pieces were supposedly a big part of the puzzle that helped narrow down who the artist is. Some band, Massive Attack, was in nola at that time doing an interview and his band's tours always line up with Banksy paintings around the world. Him and banksy being in nola randomly were too convenient for people to ignore and it's considered the smoking gun in his identity.

I believe he painted something in Birmingham several years ago.

Just looked it up and that's a pretty cool piece for a random spot in Alabama. Unfortunately I see some POSs ruined it up as ghetto-ly as they could. Idk why locals are so set on ruining an icon's art on display for the public.
Same nonsense happened to the ones in NOLA, it's so aggravating that people have to ruin something that people enjoy to have in their city
