I think it's a great idea. These hotels have to be held accountable for the shady shite that constantly goes down in them. Right now it's just a fricking free-for-all, and these trashy mofos exploit that.

If they are complicit in the crime, then you can shut them down. If it just happens to be a location where crime gravitates, then shutting them down is an abuse of power. That sets a bit of a dangerous precedent.

Ah I thought you were saying you didn’t think that the ordinance was a coincidence as in it was written overnight due to this one crime.
I still agree with putting pressure on the hotels with threats of closing them down though. The people running them know exactly what they are renting rooms out for and are likely in on the take IMO

I agree and disagree. On one hand, these places should be held responsible for the shite that happens on their property. There's a difference between random dumb shite and a pattern of criminal activity.
On the other hand, the criminals will just move to another location, which would essentially shift the crime.

Like I said, if the owners are complicit, then shut them down. If they're hosting shady characters, then the cops are just going to have to do their jobs. It's pretty fricked up that the government can shut you down because you attract a certain unsavory clientele.

I don't think it's unreasonable to pressure hotel/motel owners to hire off-duty police or security guards to clean that shite up. Police constantly responding to the same shithole ties up resources that could be better used being proactive and taking care of other areas.
There are several programs across the country run by cities and universities that force apartments to clean up their act.

That motel 6 and super 8 next door are a big reason there are so many vagrants on Siegen as well. It’s not like this is a new issue either, in high school we bought pills from the night manager at one of them

The hotels are not doing enough to ensure the safety of their guests or that illicit activities are not taking place on their grounds. I don't believe that they're in on it, but they sure as shite look the other way. Criminals are aware of this and intentionally exploit it.
