Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) no more enjoys liability protection against user-generated content in India as the U.S. microblogging giant has failed to comply with new IT rules, the Indian government said in a court filing.

The statement is the first time Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has officially said Twitter has lost its immunity after repeatedly criticising the company for non-compliance.

India's IT ministry told the High Court in New Delhi that Twitter's non-compliance amounted to a breach of the provisions of the IT Act, causing the U.S. firm to lose its immunity, according to the filing dated July 5.

Scruffy can only hope that this happens here one day.

No.

The only positive way any of this could go is it’s complete dissolution and erasure from existence.

For the sake of humanity, hopefully there will be a day when people look back and say "you remember when people could take a video of you anywhere and without you even knowing it, they could post it on social media where a bunch of people would then share it for all of their followers to see and so on... It was insane".

The only possible thing this results in is Twitter taking a more active stance against conservative voices and folks that are critical of governments.

I hate Twitter, Facebook, et al, as much as the next guy, but if Twitter is liable for the shite that gets posted on their platform, I'd imagine that immunity wouldn't be given to Chicken in the same situation for TD.

A sacrifice Scruffy is willing to make to rid humanity of one of the most socially and mentally destructive inventions in history.

Sorry.

I dont see chicken censoring 1/2 of the country. Maybe i am in the wrong rooms/threads.

His rules are pretty basic message board rules. This is a public forum.

I dont see the correlation of the secrant/tigerdroppings to twitter.

This has nothing to do with owning either political party.

Scruffy hopes for the complete dissolution of the entire concept of social media, especially the giants.

It has been the most destructive experiment in US, if not global, history and has a record that is abysmally negative that defending the concept is insane, ISO.
