I just had my first Twinkie in several years and it was nothing like it was when I was little. This new version was more dry and cakey, nothing like the moist, greasy, spongy treat I knew. The cream wasn’t as creamy either. An unsatisfying, almost “bad” poor substitute, especially since I was expecting something so much better.

This world has gone to shite. How does that happen? Can we not keep the fricking Twinkie?

They were never top tier, never something kids demanded. They were cool though because they were so different. There was really nothing like it.

This knew version is arse though. Nothing like the original. Just old vanilla cake in the shape of a Twinkie with cream inside.

maybe it was you who changed and not the Twinkie. A good memory simply can't be trusted for long.

Well the parent went bankrupt and another company bought them out. Probably cheapened an already cheap product to make and made it even worse.

Is it possible that you had a simpler palate when you were a kid?

That is one thing I am envious of the older generations, They got to try Mcdonalds, in its early version where the food was real and made. Not all the microwave crap they sling through the drive through now. Everything was made with real suger. Plus all the candies and treats.

Burger King, KFC, Wendys, Mcdonalds, Pop eyes, Rallys, Whataburger,

But I could be romantizing .

Remember a few years back when Pepsi did a throwback with Pepsi and Mt Dew? Cane sugar instead of syrup. Good stuff. I still buy Mexican cokes in glass bottles from time to time.

By all means, Im not saying any of that was good for you. But I think Suger beats out HFCS

Twinkies have been the way you’re describing them for a while because it’s been years since I’ve had one but I had the same experience. In the 90’s/early 00’s Twinkies were super moist, almost “wet” and the cream was creamier, now they’re just another cake.

I find the same of ding dongs since they're no longer in foil. And ice cream sandwiches. They seem to have a less tasteful and harder cookie than used to be on ice cream sandwiches.
