5.7L 2014. I tow between 5k boat, 6k camper, and/or horse trailer with two horses almost every weekend & use as a daily driver on weekdays. 130k miles to date - zero issues to date except the rubber boot at bottom of radio antenna dry rotted. I'd say she's lasting well HOWEVER that bitch does eat some gas!!!!

Only negative- 16-18 miles per gallon.

Quit bragging, lol. Only way I get that MPG is in neutral going down steep hill. 13-15 is average, and when I'm loaded or towing, it might be 11-13. I don't understand why they put such a small tank on a motor with this type of MPG. A 26 gallon tank being standard would make sense.

Towing my horse trailer with two horses I average 8.5-9mpg. LOL. But if I need to speed up quickly to dodge an tractor trailer...I got the power.

2003 Tundra at 280k, never made a single repair to it. Just oil, filters, tires and a brake pad job.

Thats what made it hard to justify. I had an F250 gas burner with 4.30 gears and itd get as good as 13mpg pulling my boat. 17-18 on the interstate. Costs the same as the yota. Couldn't justify the tundra.

What sucks is a stupid little snorkel would have prevented the whole thing for all those years on that motor.
My Tundra has the snorkel. And still had the problem. I fixed it myself. I have the 4.6 L V8 and both valves are mounted to the exterior of the engine. Replaced both pumps and valves, then drilled small holes in the bottom of the snorkels to drain any water. No problems since.

I talked to a Toyota service manager back in 2019 and she told me the issue persists. Her brand new Tundra had just had the repair. Toyota ignores it until they get threatened with a class action suit for a model year. Then they will extend the warranty to cover the repair.

My FIL has just over 300,000 on his 08’ Tundra and still running good. My 08’ Tacoma has 245,000 and I drive it 60 miles round trip to work every day.

If it's a V8, you are going to want to change the timing belt ASAP. The 4.7L models are an interference engine with a belt. They need to be changed every 90,000 miles.

The 4.0L V6 and the 5.7L V8 use chains. The 4.7L uses a belt.

First two over 250,000 and current has 85000

I have never done a thing to them but routine maintenance. Not a single system failure---not even an alternator or water pump. The first came with a Panasonic battery that lasted 7 years. I wish I could find one of those batteries now.

For those who don't know, this means that if the belt breaks, pistons hit valves and the engine is totally wrecked.
