Airlines should pay for and fund TSA. Let the ticket revenue fund that airline cost.
USER PAY ! No shutdown drama …

Supposing that were to happen, ticket prices would 10x, which would put all the airlines out of business in 6 months.

Instead, we should just drop the performative jobs program altogether. Let airlines & airports pay for private security if it is truly needed.

If either party cared at all about TSA, the people that do the actual job, and the folks stranded in airports for hours, someone would introduce a bill to just fund TSA. You dont hate politicians enough. All of them suck. Including the current president that I voted for three times. Terrible people.

Do we even need TSA anymore? Can’t airlines screen their own passengers?

We already do.

$5.60 fee added per one way. $11.20 per round trip ticket. The problem is that money is then put into a fund that congress has to approve to release. So what you are suggesting is what we are already doing, the government is just fricking it up.

This has been done 8 times. GOP agreed. Trump said absolutely not.

Kennedy confirms Trump said no deals with Dems

It is almost like shutting down TSA was part of the playbook all along....

That bill has been proposed at least 8 times. At least 8 times it has been rejected.

Your argument is if the airlines took over TSA, ticket prices would jump up 10x. But, if they paid for their own private security, which is what TSA would become, then there would be a minimal impact on the ticket price

My argument is that TSA is primarily a government jobs program with a shockingly terrible return on investment. Letting the airlines pay for it through private security would remove all the pointless performative garbage and only leave whatever portion of their work that is actually useful, if any.

I understand now.

To your point, I think a lot of what they do would be deemed necessary. However, if privately owned you would see a lot more efficiencies, improvements, and the agents would have to meet certain metrics/benchmarks.

My point was, if the airlines/airports took over TSA, it would essentially turn it into a private industry.

TSA is a shite agency, full of laziness and inefficiency, and I fully support eliminating it. Nothing on that Project 2025 screenshot is wrong. This is the wrong way to do it though, if anything more people are clamoring for TSA to come back ASAP.
