Looks like a nothing Burger for Gulf of Mexico
It's looking like it will be a 'nothingburger' for the east coast as well. The Bahamas are getting some effects and Bermuda may need to watch it but this thing is headed out to sea it looks like. All the talk of us in Florida getting bad weather this weekend is overblown. We will probably get dry, breezy weather due to subsidence. We actually could use the rain, but that will have to come from a non-tropical source it looks like at this point.

Fish storm. These forecasts and massive cones past 3 days are garbage.

We will get to play this again with the next disturbance. The later we get into September the harder it is for a storm to get across into the Gulf and the models have been over doing the ridge in the longer range, so you can probably already some what discount the western tracks.

I’m thinking the big time cat 3-5 storms are probably done for Texas and Louisiana this season. Upper troughs should be digging further south in a couple of weeks and presto, We will be into October weather.

Fake News!

No way Florida would decide so early and they would be more likely to cancel outright than move the game.

Last I looked at models it had the next disturbance curving so far east it didn't even touch the Bahamas, and didn't even show up on euro

Louisiana has the second highest landfalls for hurricanes in October behind Florida which is obviously going to shield most states

The 1893 Chenier Camanda Hurricane is checking in on how bad a prediction that can be.

If memory serves me right about the stories of that storm is that a cool front past the day before the storm and it was a nice cool and crisp in morning then all hell broke lose that night.

I remember seeing an old interview of a survivor of that storm that was done in the 1980. He was a child when the storm past.

Good memory.

Hilda was a major too at landfall IIRC.

Looks like the NHC wins again vs the Euro, other models and the armchair wannabes.

Folks, here’s a hint. Listen to the NHC. They kinda know what they’re talking about.

Here is a link to a clip of that interview on YouTube. He only spoke French so it is subtitled.

Daize Cheramie on 1893 Hurricane

I believe there are longer clips that were used in other productions like TRAC’s Surviving the Storm. But I can’t find any of those on YouTube. I may check my digital archive if one of those tapes got converted.

I always like thinking about how crazy it must have been before technology with hurricanes. One day you’re enjoying a nice summer day then the next a major hurricane rips though
