This is the same president that said we could be self distancing until July or August, right? The guy has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about and I’m going to lean towards trusting medical experts over an egomaniac with zero experience in situations like these.

Typo little boy.

At some point we have to stop living our lives in fear. Accept the fact that death eventually comes for us all. I for one don't want to cower in my home for the next 6-12 months while the economy collapses around my ears.

I think if people could follow simple quarantine rules the spread would decrease drastically. This hasn't even peaked in the US. You also have to think about overloading the hospitals and depleting all of the emergency personnel's PPE

I don't think it would take 6-12 months. I think at most it would be another 4 weeks.

BS. The guy started acting decisively at the end of January. He made some missteps, but when have we seen government acting well at the beginning of a crisis? Unfortunately, we vote for hucksters, not proper leaders.

He laid everything at the Governor's feet and they have taken charge of this battle.

This is as it should be. Local governments are where decisions should be made whenever possible. And the right thing for Manhattan is not the right thing for Shreveport.

Italy seems to just now be turning the corner, and they’re 2-3 weeks ahead of us. Lifting any social distancing measures right now would be disastrous. It’s still taking around a week for many testing facilities to get results back, so there’s already a lag built in there.

Unfortunately, that could be a big problem for Louisiana. Louisiana has some of the fastest growing cases in the country.

How many people are dying? How many survivors? Who cares how many positive cases they discover? If the majority of those people are surviving their illness, than get back to normal life and let’s try to save our dying economy.

The biggest issue we have is that a covid case takes up to 30 days once admitted to hospital, and given pallative care. Those that stay home die much faster, on average 10-15 days from onset of symptoms. Because of this, it will be a while before we have the hard data that you require. Unleashing everyone in Louisiana and telling them to return to work, gives them the okay to go to Church, Crawfish boils, the bar, and my Cousins fishing camp with 15 other couples. I understand we have concerns about our economy, and they are valid. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we work, the other issue that's about to rear it's ugly head is the supply chain issues, and the lack of product from China for months. As a nation, we are heavily dependent on supplies from China, and without them we will tank even if we are not quarantined.

So, the virus is not the real issue. It's just part of it. Our economy is in trouble even if no one else gets sick.

Wow. Bunch of Mensa candidates in this thread. It makes me scared for the future to see how many people listen to what this president says and then nod their head in agreement.

SEC states, especially Louisiana, are the dumbest in the nation so it isn't surprising.

All the Texas metros are at or over 100 cases with Dallas being a big center.

Testing has been somewhat of a joke though. Parkland and BSW were only providing tests to current patients so unless your doctor was in those networks, you didn't get a test.
