How does it suck for small business owners and their employees who pay quarterly taxes? This is not income tax, this is payroll tax.

This is the dem's problem with the proposal. Yes, the "common man" gets the break, but so do the companies paying payroll taxes. They just got a huge corporate tax break and now we want to toss another 9-10% at them? frick that.
They should do what Dubya did and send a check to every American while securing paid sick leave for employees who can't just miss work via quarantine without losing their jobs or missing paychecks.

Do you really not remember that the Obama tax cut included a payroll tax cut for employees?
I honestly don't. Could just be my ignorance. Not trying to make this sound uppity, but could it be something to do with pay scale?

Funny you say that. Trump has refused to meet with Pelosi because he's still in his feels about being impeached. Pretty mature for a president, imo.

Yeah, we need more taxes!

More than half of the Obama stimulus cost were in the form of tax cuts and breaks.

Show me. Show me where that is factual.

It puts it in both because it would eliminate both sides - employee and employer - of payroll taxes.
How do you know? You've seen specifics? Please share.

I was self employed at the time and didn't feel much effect.
quote:
Right now, the self employed basically pay 15.3%, with 12.4% for Social Security and 2.9% for Medicare. If it's done the same way as 2009, you'll pay 13.3%.
And if you were/are paying estimated quarterly taxes, you didn't/won't see anything until you file in 2021.

Aside from extending Bush's payroll tax cut for a couple of years what else was included? I'm being sincere. This was around my last year of college/first year working so the details are hazy.

Because she's Speaker of the House and we're in the midst of an economic downturn and a pandemic on our doorstep?
Mr. Dealmaker needs to put on his big boy pants and do his job, not act like a fricking toddler during a crisis.

Yahoo citing Politico and WaPo
Definitely no bias in that article.

I don't know. 2% back was nice for everyone I would think.

Because that's how payroll taxes work.

I'm old enough to remember the outrage over raising the debt ceiling. I try to convince my younger friends that there was a point in time when Republicans cared about the deficit.
