"Did You Know" They are building a COAL POWERED FACTORY, costing 4 billion dollars, near Kansas City, to produce electric car batteries. That's right, COAL POWERED. DIDNT SEE THAT IN THE NEWS.

I would love to see a true side by side comparison of gas vs EV given that oil companies also receive their own subsidies, on top of other favorable treatment from our friends in Washington, though I doubt you will find that from the guys that wrote the OP.

That is one way to phrase what is going on with that factory.

This is why hybrids are the shite. 4,700 miles would put me out about 104 gallons of gas, or about $300 at current gas prices.

I have seen an article state Americans keep their car 8 years while the average age of cars is 12-14yrs.
Where did you get 5-6 years?
reuters - 12.5yrs

Doubt you will ever see one, esp one both sides agree on.

People have jobs where they spend all day giving evs that died boosts.
If you got an ev to save the planet, you are a retard.

I’d like for you to post a list of them. But I don’t want bullshite implicit subsidies.
Btw, as far as gasoline is concerned, it’s 0 for the US.

The analysis is per the life of the vehicle, not how long a particular person owns it.

4700 miles cost him $517
I have a 3.5L EcoBoost f150 and drive ~40% highway (55mph), 40% interstate, 20% in town (or maybe 45/45/10). Commute ~90 miles daily. I’m pretty consistently at about 24mpg in the truck.
So, 4700/24=195.833
I used $3, but I can’t tell you the last time I actually paid north of 3 but didn’t want to underestimate
$587.49 (though if we add in all the “maintenance” costs he bitches about, that is about half an oil change in excess, too).
As I’ve ridiculed him since, I’m going to drive that truck a while (currently have about 130K on the odometer).

Do public superchargers charge a premium over one at your home?
Also isn't constant supercharging kind of a bad idea?

Depends but usually they’re higher than off peak home charging.

Yes. No one really lives on super chargers. There are more Teslas that have never supercharged than there are once who use them even monthly.

My buddy sent me his stats on the number of miles he drove and his fuel cost at the superchargers.
Over 4700 miles, his model 3 was cheaper to drive than my f150 by a whopping $60.
At public charges at current rates that is not at all surprising. People who have to do the majority of their charging at Superchargers will not see much or any cost benefits over gas/diesel. Those that do the majority of the charging at home will see a significant difference. Edmunds TCO stats show a 1:4 cost difference in fuel over 5 years for a Model 3 and a BMW 340i.
The real chink in the EV armor regarding cost of ownership remains depreciation.

It's funny how this study can't be trusted because of it's funding. However scientists on climate change that are dependent on grants and funding from lib sources are to be trusted.

Is this even true? Because that isn’t so great

Feels high. My wife charges from 10-80% for about $8.
