I paid 5.09 for diesel at the Exxon in Summit Ms yesterday morning on the way out on a camping trip. It was 5.54 at the Loves in north Ms yesterday afternoon right along I-55.

Just join the the loyalty program.

Loves/Pilot both will give discounts with using the rewards program. Call their rewards program after fueling up and tell them your travel plans and you will get a discount.

They are all owned by corporations now, so I am sure they would grind up little babies for dog food if they could make a buck off it

Did you not read where I said trucking companies are not paying the pump price?

Look at the real estate a truck stop needs to park those trucks. A lot of concrete and expensive property.I agree on the price of fuel being high at these places but they do spend millions setting up these places. They are pretty competitive on gasoline though.

Ever think that the truck stop just got a diesel delivery and had to pay more for that delivery?

Of course. What are you saying?

Typical OT thread where the appropriate answers are posted in the first few comments, then just post after post of people rewording the same thing.

It’s always been like this. When I drove a diesel suv I would NEVER fill up at commercial truck stops.

The reason is that most of those 18 wheelers get a discount/rebate from the big truck stops. The sign price is only for suckers.

I'll be the first one to tell you that truck stops are fricking garbage - but they don't make much money off the pumps. Their real buttrape comes from buying stuff inside which is 100-150% markup from normal convenience stores.

correct. which i would imagine is going to be a problem when recession hits.

also, before our “it’s the greedy corporations” crew jump in spewing nonsense. (not directed at you HM) Exxon, Chevron, and Shell DO NOT own gas stations in North America.

This is true. Major carriers aren’t paying retail.

Also, Loves and Pilot and TA are not just a place to get gas. They allow the trucks to park overnight for free and have clean bathrooms showers and overnight staff. Most of the shower usage is free through rewards cards.
