Just drove my RV from Texas to Mississippi to visit family and truck stops across all three states are charging 30 to 40 cents more for a gallon of diesel than regular gas stations.

I took an exit this morning off I-55 where a truck stop had diesel for $5.69 and the run of the mill Shell station across the street had it for $5.24.

No wonder shipping costs are so outrageous right now. 18 wheelers are being fricked six ways from Sunday.

Ever think that the truck stop just got a diesel delivery and had to pay more for that delivery?

Then explain to all of us why truck stops specifically are charging more than other gas stations across the street.

Diesel is diesel. It shouldn't cost almost 10% more from one gas station to the next.

Every single truck stop from San Antonio to Jackson was like this.

All major truck stops have higher diesel prices, but have specific negotiated rates significantly less than the posted price with most large carriers.
Sorry you’re caught in the middle

ETA 99.9 percent of their business is commercial carriers, not rv drivers.

I wasn't. My RV is small so I can fill up at a regular gas station.

18 wheelers can't, therefore, our national shipping costs are up more than just this high inflation wave.

And when was their most recent delivery? As prices go up, the recipient pays a higher price. Truck stops get deliveries more often because of the amount of fuel they sell. The higher they pay per delivery, the higher you pay at the pump.

They have always charged quite a bit more. Truckers generally use a fleet discount card so they don’t pay pump price.

There’s at least one program you can sign up for as a regular Joe that gets you a discount.

Some people are fine paying more for the convenience of the large lanes and fast diesel pumps.

They aren’t catering to the RV crowd…

Because the other gas stations make most of their money off of convenience store items. The cheap gas is simply to attract convenience store customers. The diesel only truck stops make most of their money off of diesel, so they need to mark it up more. Plus they need significantly more real estate to handle big trucks.

The national brand truck stops offer amenities for drivers of major haulers. The price of their fuel is discounted also. Such amenities include check cashing services, showers, refills, food discounts, overnight parking, discounts on tires, oil changes and repairs to the trucks and trailers.

It depends on when the diesel tanks are refilled. Truck stops will have more diesel demand and will sell out quicker an need a refill

Neighborhood stations sell more unleaded and may be on a tank at cheaper rate

Because truck stops have to replenish more frequently you fricking moron. If someone wanted to make an argument against public education, all you would need to do is point them to the OT and have them read some the posts you dipshits make daily.

Cost of refined products increase by the week, if not the day. The faster the turnover on the paid for inventory, the faster the price goes up. Who do you think gets more shipments of diesel, a regular gas station or a truck stop?
