Looking at a possible career change in the future. Has anyone been a truck driver or currently a truck driver? Any advice on the field? Companies, money, etc.?

My BIL tried this as a post military career. Shortly after he started, he got stuck on an icy mountain road where he couldn't go forward or back without sliding. He found another line of work.

As long as you can dodge getting driving awards from town clowns and don’t wast your money at nap traps, you should do alright.

Seems like a good job, but you'd have to hang out in truck stops.
Just go take a gander at your potential colleagues

My older brother, although highly intelligent, does not work well with others. He's been driving cross-country for a few years and absolutely loves it. He's "his own boss" to an extent.

Drivers make a lot these days but the real money is made at the truck stops.

If I do this, I mainly want to get experience and save a little bit to possibly start my own hot shot trucking later on in the future.
