Self driving trucks are happening in our lifetime, probably within 15 years. They're already being tested and the only reason they're not on the open road is lawyers wanting to sue people.

Actually the Teamsters are a large roadblock and they won't go away for a long time.

My grandad drove a truck when I was in elementary school. Summers he'd pick me up and I'd ride with him across country. It had a bunk bed in it, I'd climb up on the top one and look out the window going down the road. Great memories.

They do, you have to have flawless record. They dont even drive that far and its 100% no touch freight. They drop one trailer, pull one from the dock, drop it, hook up to the full one and put it in the dock, then hook back up to the empty trailer and bring it back to the distrubution center. I have a buddy who works for them.

My father had a couple of Macks like this for his business and I drove a few times to Irondale, Alabama and Albuquerque to pick up loads of material for him during summers when I was in college. Back then I had a chauffeurs license which was before CDL and I was only about 19-20 maybe but I started driving it around town when I was 15. I enjoyed it but wouldn't want to do it for a living. But the trucks are much better now. At least his had AC and they both had 8 tracks.
