you must not have been here in August. One of our posters (cant think of the name to give him credit) was about 12 hours ahead of the news about back flooding and I know I warned about 10 of my family members and it gave them time to sandbag and save their house...

I forget that poster's name, but he saved 36 horses. Because of him I talked a friend into staying at the barn, which never flooded before. Surprise! Hip deep. I always check here for anything weather related.

Supernovasky... that guy was a hero

Eta: IIRC, he was a mod for some sort of a hurricane forum

This thing has had very little northern movement in the last 4 hours or so. The current low pressure was found around 25.8 N, 90.6 W, which is essentially where it was at the 10 AM forecast update.

Is the gulf warm enough this time of year that more time over water makes it stronger? Or does no northern movement mean good things for S. Louisiana?

I think we will have Cindy on the next advisory. Hurricane hunters found 57 mph surface winds when they were flying into it.

Regardless of sea temps, this storm is fighting shear and dry air. That's the main factor holding it back.

I've stayed glued to these threads for any large weather event that Louisiana has experienced since Katrina. They are almost always hours ahead of the news and much easier to digest. I can't tell you how many friends I have warned of nearby tornados, flooding and other threatening events, because of the information provided by numerous posters in these type of threads.

Shouldnt a stronger storm mean less of a spread out rain event?
