Pretty crazy how "close" the general low level circulation is to the LA coast, especially considering the fact it was south of this image 24 hours ago.

When will the storm and rains reach LA?

Is that the center of circulation right in the middle of this map? Pretty clear to view but I feel like anytime I see something similar it's not the center of the storm.
ETA: Right around 89 and 24.8*

if the center could relocate closer to those swirls to the SE near 89deg that would be great.

Upper-level winds are expected to be marginally conducive for some additional development of this system during the next day or two while it moves northward to northwestward into the central Gulf of Mexico
It's already in the central GoM.

That's where the recon is investigating.

I'm guessing it will be upgraded to a named storm soon?
If they find a closed circulation yeah.

Jim Cantore and Chris Warren for TWC will be in New Orleans.

My wife (no pictures) sent me a message saying TWC is sending Jim Cantore to New Orleans. That means we are doomed.
If this thing makes landfall somewhere just south or southwest of Morgan City, what is the potential storm surge into Lake Pontchartrain? In addition to the rain, how fricked will the northshoe be?
