true. We lived on Monitor about three houses down from Bishop (now SMHS). I rode my bike with my friends all over that neighborhood. For the most part Shenendoah is still nice but there are some pockets of trash.

I bought a bike over there - Jones Creek in the 90s for the life of me, I can’t remember the brand- a cheap dirt bike that was way too heavy for the road tires I eventually put on it. I remember the layout of that store perfectly. I later bought a much better bike elsewhere.

Edit-It was a Diamondback.

Neighborhood so large with so many people that was also connected to Lake at White Oak/White Oak Landing that all it took was a bike ride to hang out with all kinds of friends. Constant football games in the front yard, Nintendo battles, etc. Even the loser kids had to have had another loser friend close enough to walk/bike ride to. If you couldn't make friends in that neighborhood something was wrong with you

Sounds like my childhood in north Louisiana. Can’t put a price tag on that sort of freedom and friendship. Hopefully kids still get to explore like that.

T&C? Grew up there in the 80’s and apparently it was very similar to growing up in Shenandoah during that time period.

No further details were readily available. It’s unclear at this time what led up to the shooting.

I've known Brent and Sydney for a few years. I've never met his daughter but I do remember her driving to school her freshman year at LSU majoring in french. Brent has helped me out multiple times and I've helped Brent out with his truck once. I've only talked to Sydney in depth once for about 15 minutes, otherwise it was always a quick wave and hello if I seen him out and about.

I've talked to someone who knows everyone a little better then myself and this is his story. Brent was committed to a mental institution late last year into January of this year. When he got out he was still talking to himself and acting unusual. When asking the dad about it he would never elaborate what was going on with his son.

Friday there was loud talking almost arguing amongst Sydney, the daughter and Brent in the driveway. My friend almost walked over to intervene but decided it was a family matter and he didn't need to be involved. He said 45 minutes later about 10 cop cars showed up. He is SPECULATING that the dad (sydney) and the daughter were trying to talk Brent into going back to the mental hospital. Brent snapped and killed them both.

I believe Brent only had one daughter as he only ever mentioned one daughter when I talked to him. If so then his daughter has a young child I would estimate to be about 8 years old.

There are eyewitness accounts and speculation mixed in with my post. And this is all secondhand information. He said he was interviewed by the news so this information may come out or may have already come out.

This story is haunting. His daughter looks to have a young son, which breaks my heart for that little boy. Thank you for the added details. Kiran had this in her article:

“Prior to being transported to a hospital, deputies say Deloach told them an unidentified man came into the Shenandoah home and attempted to murder him and his daughter. Deloach added he returned fire with his own gun, the same gun deputies found at the scene.

However, deputies say they did not find any evidence of forced entry into the home.“

Unfortunately, a domestic incident can happen anywhere. It's obviously still terrible, but not necessarily a reflection on an area or neighborhood.

Not that Shenandoah is anything like what it was 35 years ago either.

I brought flowers to your door last night
I done wrong and I wanna make it right
You say I'm not welcome here
I know it oughta be perfectly clear
But I can't help but wonder what it might be like

If I had two dozen roses
And an old bottle of wine
If I really coulda hung the moon
Would you change your mind
If I could try a little harder
And get a little less sleep at night
If I had two dozen roses
Would it change your mind

I do not think he was a poster. We never talked sports and I've never seen him wear anything sports related.

Here is a link from Kiran about what happened. Mostly what my friend relayed to me seems to be in the article. Timing of the argument outside seems a little off but I may have heard him wrong or he may not have remembered correctly.
