I have trigger finger in two digits: middle and ring. I've had 2 steroid injections, which provided temporary relief. Some folks get permanent relief after an injection or two. Didn't work for me. Surgery is my next step.

I've had it in both middle fingers. Had surgery in each and now no issues at all.

Had it on left ring finger and now on right middle. Surgery fixed the first one and scheduling surgery for the other. Fixed the first one fine and recovery was just a week or so maybe. It’s nothing.

The Name of the procedure is Percutaneous Trigger release. It was performed on my wife by a Dr. Cardon in Berkeley, CA which I know is a long way for you. Hopefully you can find someone local that can do the procedure. He did it in office and it took about 30 minutes.
If for some reason you cannot find someone local he only charges $500 if insurance does not cover. Might be worth the trip out! I would definitely check this out before considering surgery! Good luck!

I have a close relative that has trigger finger. She sleeps with a splint that helps tremendously for hers. I believe trigger thumb would be maddening because you use the thumb so much.

Trigger Thumb more specifically. Have you ever had it?

Quit thumbing your bean so much, you can go blind from too much thumb action.
