That is something you negotiate with tree removal companies. Just be sure they are insured and licensed in your county or city.

I also have a pecan tree that needs to go. It makes the smallest pecans known to man.

Every year it gets eaten bare by insects and the squirrels take all my pecans.

Do you see lumps on the leaves? Leaf gall, pain in the arse to get rid of, have to spray within 2 weeks of first buds on tree.

If you have enough land, you can ask them to dump the very fresh mulch somewhere, let it 'cook' for a year or two and you have free mulch.

I've even stopped where they are clearing someone elses land and offered them a place to offload their shredded trees. Good stuff, local, and with our mixed hardwood forests, a better mulch than that made from ground up pine pallets.

I had 2 huge pines removed. Having them dispose of tree was part of cost.

Every tree removal estimate I've had includes the guy asking "Are you gonna want me to haul all this stuff off?"

They'll gladly leave it behind.

What’s the protocol for tree removal companies. Do they let you keep the wood for personal use?

My tree guy even cut down into perfect fireplace sizes

I read this right after reading about transgender swimsuits and thought it was related.

We had them bring down a big water oak in my back yard. I kept the wood, and have been burning it all winter. I always thought that was standard practice.

Yes, but see a doctor if it lasts over 4 hours.
