Few people live on a 5 acre lot.

Good Price! Did that price include having it hauled off? If so, REALLY GOOD

Yep. Had a wake up call a few months ago when a limb fell onto the house. Only 750 worth of damage but still a PITA. Since then two large trees have gotten the axe with one more coming down later this month.

Expensive as all hell to get them taken down but beats a busted up house and all the annoyance that brings.

I live in Metairie and the last couple of hurricanes there was some major tree damage... It 's nice to have trees but that comes some responsibility. When the storms come and the trees take out power lines.. you won't be too popular with your neighbors. In Metairie the lots are typically 50X100 and there was a guy that had 3 massive oak trees on his property.. 2 in front and one on the side of his corner lot... The two in front took out the lines and blocked the street and the side one also took out lines and blocked the street... No one came for days to clean this up...

This would cost me 100k and the City would deny every removal permit anyway

This thread inspired me to get my water oak cut down. Tiger Tater Tots would you mind sharing what tree company you used?

Yep. The older ones usually need to be trimmed every couple of years.

Despite this, mature magnolia trees will shed leaves ALL frickING SUMMER.

House Splitters, AKA Pine Trees serve no purpose that close to a house, because they can and will split a house into during a storm, and unfortunately kill people in the process.
