Europeans are rude AF from our experience, especially when it comes to how they treat women.
In the US, at least in the south, most men will hold doors for women, step aside to let them pass by, etc. In Europe, they will cut a lady off in a heart beat and not think twice about it. My wife brushes it off and doesn’t care. I think it’s rude AF and not how a man should act.

You’re a hardcore lib who tells uninterested locals that you are sorry for Trump and offer to wash their feet.

We just spent a month in Cyprus, Greece and Italy. Never had any negatives issues during the trip or negative feedback from being an American. Everyone was friendly and helpful of course we tend to be low key and respectful of being in another country. One thing to know is that most restaurants only plan for one seating. Seeing vacant tables may be because they are reserved for guests at a later time.

In Europe now
Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They detest trump, so I have something in common with them. Maybe that’s why I get along great with them. I think Europeans are nicer than most Americans.

Tried walking in a restaurant in Italy to get some pizza after our flight and they said they were booked until the next day. There were empty tables and we looked online for reservations the next day and they said there were some available in 15 minutes today. I know I don’t speak Italian, but I’m very polite. Everyone kind of seems disinterested when we speak to them at all. Just getting weird vibes the first day.
While I don’t doubt you screamed “murica” in your stance and appearance, what you described is just a foreign thing (especially Italy)
They require reservations to be seated. We tried walking to several spots when we were in Rome and got the same run-around.
After we started booking reservations, they were more than happy to take our money.

I really wonder how some of you behave overseas (or anywhere for that matter). Never had a bad experience with the Dutch other than some homeless a-hole.
It’s completely overstated, but I did have a couple of interactions in Australia earlier this year where the only culprit I could surmise is we were American. The other HUNDREDS of interactions were fine

Guess I’m too caught up in the mobster movies where someone is dipping bread in pot to taste the pasta grandma has been cooking all day long.
Theres a scene in The Sopranos where they’re in Italy and the Italians make fun of Paulie for wanting spaghetti and tomato sauce. Made me laugh. Paulies idea of what Italy would be was so off.

This is just stupid. I've been everywhere once and most places more. It doesn't matter where you are from it's how you respect the culture. Anyone who shows a regard for their hosts will most times be treated well.
Trying to tip everyone? You're an idiot. I've never seen anyone who didn't appreciate being acknowledged with cash for excellent service.
I love when people who've been nowhere further than Bunkie speak about nothing they know anything about.

Tell them you know the pope, they will roll out the red carpet.

I always have dinner reservations in Europe. It just makes things easier and I’m ensured to get into the restaurants I want to dine in.
Which reminds me. I need to make some reservations for Bologna in a couple of weeks.

yep, this, also, tipping is pretty much a ‘murcan thing, there are exceptions but in some countries servers can be offended by tipping

I would kill to have an opportunity to try the real deal spaghetti and meatballs in Italy. Not that quick shite they cook in this part of the world. Maybe one day.
You are going to be disappointed when you get to Italy. They don’t really do meatballs and spaghetti. They fry meatballs as a side dish or bake meat into dishes, but meatballs and spaghetti is not a typical dish you will find there.

Tipping in Italy is more of a round up things. 98.5 euro bill? Just give them 100 euro and they’re happy with it.

if I were to find myself eating in Italy
there a 1000 other dished I would eat first
But just the meatballs as the appetizer or part of the meal, the way they do that in different parts of Italy kind of like Texas barbecue and brisket
all a local variation
