Leave it in 100% of the time.

Has protected the Yukon xl several times.

And I pull a trailer a good bit.

Don't know about trashy, but it's dumb..

If someone rear ends you, the hitch will cause more damage to your vehicle...

This is the conundrum. While leaving the hitch in can help protect your car in certain instances. The hitch is an extension of your frame and can cause frame damage if hit hard enough. Bumpers are on cars to help prevent frame damage when hit

Ball is awesome at mutiplying damage to vehicles driven by dumbasses who are not paying attention in traffic. Got hit by some TSA chick near IAH last year. Get out and check my damage first. I think my hitch ball was slightly scuffed. Her front bumper is pushed in at point of impact. I told her I was not going to call for cops. She asked me if her car was driveable to Kingwood. About to tell her yes then I see the green stream of collant flowing towards the street. Had to explain to her why driving only about 10 mi home was a very bad idea. Should have told her to go for it and ignore all engine warning lights.

I leave mine in upside down because it makes a handy step when I need to grab something out of the bed. Fight me.

I remember when most trailer hitches were permanent and you had no choice but to leave the ball hitch mounted.

only reason I take mine off is because of the constant abuse of shins when I forget it's on there and am reaching over into the truck bed

Got rear-ended by a lady in a mustang a few years ago while sitting at a red light when her ‘brakes went out’.

My truck = not a scratch. Her car = Trailer hitch sized hole thru her bumper.

Since then I never take mine out, so .
