Transmission flush yay or nay?

2012 expedition with right at 80k miles on it. Should we have the transmission flushed as part of regular maintenance or is it necessary?

I don't do anything but routine maintenance until 100k.

Only if you want to buy a new transmission. You should have your transmission serviced, though. Go to a competent shop and have them drop the pan and change the filter. A flush doesn't change your filter. I'd use AGCO in Baton Rouge and will have mine changed there in a couple of months.

Nay, all a flush is going to do is stir up all the tiny flecks of metal and disc particles that have settled at the bottom and run it all through your tranny, contaminating and fricking up the whole thing.

JMO but I would trust Ford over some baws from the OT lounge.

Ford is in the business to sell vehicles. That's why they recommend 150,000. It only helps the transmission if you change the fluid and filter sooner and could prevent major damage.

Got an Xterra with 236,000 miles on it and have nEver had a bit of trouble except for a battery change . Only do routine oil changes and air filters .

Dealers make a killing on service. Selling the car is great but the real money comes from service at the dealership.

Flush is different from a fluid change.
Id do a fluid change, but never a flush.

a tranny flush simply lets the tranny pump out the old worn out fluid as its replaced with fresh new fluid.
everyone should do a tranny flush fluid replacement every 100k miles. this is not a drain and refill the pan but you actually replace "all" the fluid in the tranny.
a few idiots still go around insisting it makes trannys fail but these are old wives tales morons keep repeating because they read it on the internet somewhere because back in 1970 the way trannys were made this sometimes did happen because the way those older trannys were made the gritty dust from the friction disks helped worn out trannys still work but when the grit was removed from them it made the tranny start slipping. this happened because the tranny already needed the friction plates replaced, but the old dirty fluid kept it working.
tranny fluid (even the ones they claim last forever, has a set lifespan, and after 100k miles it needs replacing or your tranny can lack proper lubrication and have premature failure.

not supposed to flush that Transmission, theres a valve in there that doesnt open until a certain temp. Just the fluid change and maybe filter I think its like 100+K though. I wouldnt touch it.

If you aren't having transmission issues I wouldn't.
Notice any issues with shifting then trying the transmission fluid change (assuming no leaks) is a fairly cheap thing to try for a fix

Nope, they run a chemical to flush the transmission and then put new fluid in it.
Skip the flush and just change the fluid.
