He contacted the owners and had them rename him. Trainers also do have a say a lot. Most aren’t named til they are 2 and nearing a race

Lol - yes I know my cousin is a trainer and my brother has had horses in the past
Owners still had to change the name and I know the bigger trainers have more say (my cousin is not a big name
) But the way Guillot presented the name change - he was trying to get himself in trouble or be controversial (like you said)
