Don't like the article in the link, the way it says the vehicle collided with the train...the car didn't collide with it, it pulled out in front and was struck by the train if they want to be politically correct with wording..

A lot of people want to say things about the railroad engineers and conductors when it comes to accidents when things happen that quickly...trains just don't stop, they can't "tap" their brakes if someone pulls out in front of them..now those employees have to live with that scene branded in their memory..they are the first ones to check out the scene to see those deaths..I haven't experienced this and I hope I never have to..but one thing I was told when i hired on, it's not if it happens but when it happens..

trains are bad arse. And yes there are people who go to ship inlets, near airports and to construction sites for basically the same thing.. Some people are really into certain types of machinery. I can watch steam engines for hours.

I know the train stopped...they have to after an accident...I was referring to they can't just stop on a dime and slam on their brakes..it takes time..depending on the speed and weight, some longer time than others..

that's what happen when you try to beat a train. they are deceptively fast. way to many crossings without drop barriers in this country.

Anyone notice the caution lights were not blinking at the crossing?

I didn't see them blinking but I will say that when I'm crossing tracks I look left and right no matter what. Never assume death isn't approaching, lack of a signal just means your heirs might get rich.

Good point, CENLA. Most people don't think about how these wrecks affect the engineers.

My father is an Amtrak engineer and unfortunately has hit a few vehicles that resulted in deaths. He has frequent nightmares and can still see the looks on the faces of those that were killed when they realized they were going to be hit. I know it's a part of the profession, but it doesn't make it any less devastating.

In the first video - you are seeing the back of the lights for the traffic coming the other direction.

The other set of lights which are facing the direction the car is coming from can be seen at the end of the clip.

Car driver was looking at the people on side of the tracks and not paying attention to the crossing lights. My two cents.
