re: Traffic rant: Police should ticket drivers who pull into an intersection and block traffic

If I were Baton Rouge PD I would just go to every major intersection along Perkins and make $10,000 in ticket revenue twice a day every rush hour writing tickets for this. People would figure it out quickly and the city could start fixing problems with all the money. Traffic would improve. Everyone wins.

I agree. I didn't write many tickets, but this one was that I would write all the time.

Giuliani did it in NYC. It was called don’t block the box. They had cops standing at intersections and pulling people over who blocked it. Was very effective

Rules don't apply to some people

When the light turns red, then you can proceed with your left turn PLUS it gives the drivers behind a chance to go around. I cuss at people who sit through a couple of red lights because they won't pull out. Idiots.

I basically had to do this outside DC because every time we were red, the lanes turning the way I was going would jam it up by not following the rules. Then our light would go green and I couldn't cross.
Had to say frick it after 3 light cycles.

I bet you and everyone else would come on here and whine about the police pulling people over on busy intersections causing more traffic headaches.

I’m already sitting there through multiple light cycles. If they start enforcing it, it would stop.

Racing to the end of the merge lane and expecting to be let in. Pisses me off more than anything.

I do this all the time
The lane doesnt end at some random okay distance back from the merge where everyone feels like they did their part
If people like you would just follow the rules of the road it would actually work smoother and faster than everyone trying to merge before the merge point in varying distances of what is "okay"

It’s the zipper method and it’s proven to be the quickest way to get everyone moving. I think it’s crazy that someone would choose to sit in a giant line of cars with an open lane right next to them.

Sure, if there is an opening, fine, jump in. But if the travel lane is stacked don’t try to force your way in just because you’re to impatient to wait your turn.

I frequently have drivers blow the horn at me for NOT pulling into an intersection and blocking traffic during rush hour. Baton Rouge has retard drivers
I had a dumbass lay on the horn once because I didn't run a red light.
Not even lay on the horn 1/10 of a second after it turned green. Whole time the light was red.

Agree
Also: I think I have a sign on my vehicle that says “ yes traffic is going smoothly, please pull out in front of me causing me to slow down “

they do, or they did before may of 2020

Cops don't seem to write tickets anymore, we'll except for the ones riding around in blacked out ghost cars on the highways and they are only interested in speeders and aggressive drivers. When growing up in the late 80s I remember being worried as hell for any motor violation when driving on surface streets, no turn signal, having a light out, not coming to a complete stop, etc. these days I see drivers doing all of above and more right in front of cops and none get pulled over. Zero coincidences for bad driving until you cause a wreck, its maddening.

And if no police are present it should be legal to pull them from their vehicle, beat them to a pulp, push their car off the road (hopefully there is a large ditch nearby) and leave them laying by the side of the road as an example to others to not block the intersection.
