They tried and tried and tried. Dayum. People need to learn BR history. Kip Holden pushed this loop idea for years but the surrounding parishes and elected folks killed his idea. Holden was a visionary but the citizens of the day (and those who biatch unknowingly today) are the reason we can't have nice things.

I’m well aware of that. My post was a shot at another poster saying there has to be a better way. There was a much better plan under Kip but the same people that are bitching about this plan and saying how screwed up it will be are the exact same people that fought the loop tooth and nail.
The loop was the perfect solution but it was shot down by the people it benefited the most and now 15 years later, those same people are complaining about how much worse traffic will be will this project

Just imagine thanksgiving traffic and other major
Holidays while this is going on.

We are talking Mad Max level chaos. Traffic would be backed up solid from Mississippi to Lafayette.

The loop or a bypass is vital, but not the solution. You still had to repair 10, bring it up to modern standards and do what we are doing now to make it all work.

There is no one thing that can be done to solve local and regional traffic issues.

It does seem like the Federal government would have a vested interest in easing a huge choke point on such a busy interstate.

It does seem like the Feds should take ownership over the poorly designed portion of 20 from the bridge east to 12.

There’s the legendary bottleneck at Washington Street, the hazardous curve on the up ramp heading west, and something like 10 entrances and exits from 110 to 12.
