Have a '13 edge, 62k miles. Been a nightmare with electrical systems the last year. Doors won't lock, alarm goes off, constantly tells you to shift to park, always tells you doors are ajar, blows cold air on one side hot on the other, sync system constantly crashes, etc.... Had enough and want to trade it in, do I have responsibility to tell the dealer in trading to about all the issues?

I would hope it would still be covered by manufacturer warranty

They run it through their shop. Let them find it.

The dealership I bought my jeep from sure didn't tell me about the previous 4 owners, 2 transmission swaps, and body work that was done before I purchased it.

no. they should be able to figure it out. it's just like when you bring your car to the shop and tell them that it's having all kinda elect problems and they tell you, "can't find anything wrong".

Nope, first issue started at 38k miles. Last week cost me 190.00 for them to hook some computer deal up since it was blowing hot air on one side. Every other week something new pops up. Hell she just doesn't lock it now since the alarm constantly goes off if you do, hoping it will get stolen.

Don't tell them a damn thing. They'd do the exact same to you

I'd take it back where I bought it and tell them that if they want to keep me as a loyal customer then they should give me a trade value which is appropriate for miles and year model.

Take it to a Ford dealership, poetic justice.

You got the 1 in 150 POS.

Upon further thought, they probably have the historical file on it.

I agree with your original premise that it's time to part ways with it.

Good luck!

They don't really care. The dealership will evaluate it for resale or ship off to auction. Do NOT say a thing about any problems and push for a good trade in value by first doing research on your trade in. Telling them about issues just reduces your negotiating position.

No all dealers/sales people are heartless & con artist.

OP, dealer that looks at it to trade, will drive and evaluate any defects so they know what to expect. Hope you stay away from Ford (email me if you plan to come look at new Toyota or pre-owned vehicles)GL

The power of the internet review should keep them in line a little better than in the past. We now can share details when we get shoddy treatment and these guys best know that I will

TBH most places that take in trades then sell them off to auction. They only keep and sell the ones they choose.

To be honest the dealer has been really good about the situation. One problem with the shifter not being recongonized they allowed me to pay a 100 dollar deductible for the 1800 dollar fix. Just not getting another Ford for now and guess I feel bad about dumping it on someone with out them knowing.
