So with Toys R Us shuttering their stores, what will happen to the toy industry?

Bye bye!

I'm actually sad about this. Toys R Us has always made shopping for Christmas and birthdays easier.

I heard about this earlier today and I’m sad as well. I love going to the toy store with my son.

Toys are one of those product categories I prefer to browse in person than online. Unless you know exactly what you want, its harder to pick them out online.

I would imagine most of the stuff they sell can be bought at other stores like Walmart and Target.. I am sure there are some items you can only buy there... I really don't know, but what would attract someone to Toys R Us that you can't get somewhere else?

It will undoubtedly shut down completely. Feel bad for the unborn children who will never know what a toy is.

It's sad seeing all these stores close. I loved the toy store when I was little. My parents always took us to this big store in Charlotte called Lionel's. That place was huge, and we loved going there. Even after they closed and we went to places like Toys R Us, there was still a feeling you had going in there, it wasn't just being excited, was a little more to it than that. When the FYE off College drive closed last year, I went in the their clearance a few times and it was real nostalgic to go in there, and sad at the same time. I know buying stuff online is convenient a lot of times, but there's just something about going to the store as well.

Journey Girl Dolls are a TRU only brand. My daughter doesn't like AGD's and has 2 of them.

So yeah there are some things that are only at TRU.

Wow. Growing up in tbe Dell, a trip to the TrU in NOLA East was like going to a theme park.

And then there was Kay Bee Toys in the mall. And don’t get me started on the Sears catalog

Kids these days don’t know such excitement. Everything is fed to them instantaneously and there is no looking forward to things and waiting in anticipation.

Same

It’s not really the same ordering some shite on amazon. Cool to bring the kids there on a special occasion. They light up going in there even if we end up buying some tiny little thing. Sad it’s going to be gone.
