You know very little about English conservation. I suggest you watch Clarkson’s Farm.

I'm sure this ill defined standard isn't at all a slippery slope.
Maybe we should just ban all advertising for gas powered vehicles since they are bad for the environment? And ban all advertising for any products that use plastic?

UK is unbelievably cucked. They love government monitored CCTV everywhere in public, campaigns for "binning that knife," and beans on toast.
Several of me childhood mates in and around London defriended me when they found out I was MAGA AF.

One of the biggest appeals about The Woodlands, a severe lack of billboards.
Probably the best part by far. Love that they have no billboards and hide strip centers with trees.

Dude, again you don’t know what you’re talking about. Conservation in England is next level strict. Clarkson had to get permits and meticulous surveys to dig a pond (on his own property) as to not disturb the habitat of field mice. He was threatened with massive fines if he killed any badgers that were actively spreading bovine tuberculosis.

I've driven both and while the diesel is great as is the higher payload, I personally prefer the 'American' blocky design of the Tacoma over the 'Ute' looking design of the Hilux and the higher towing capacity.
A small turbo diesel getting 30 mpg in the Tacoma would sell like hot cakes in the U.S. I wouldn't be able to write the check fast enough.

And people think the US is bad…
We are being molded to follow their lead.

GM, Ford, Ram, and Nissan all had small diesels in their half tons as well as the GM offerings with the 4 cylinder diesel. Sales for these all bombed after the first wave. The market while there is nowhere near what it is for a hybrid or turbo 4/6 in these models. Overseas the options are a weak 6cyl or a turbo diesel, many of which have nowhere near the emission requirements on new diesels that we see in the states. The EGR and DEF systems are killing diesel reliability which is the one thing that Toyota has prided itself in (hint why they are not going full electric but rather using what they have learned over the last decade plus on the Prius and bringing that knowledge and reliability to it's other lineups).

Would a diesel Toyota have killed it from 76-2002 here stateside? Absolutely. That said history from other manufacturers as well as Toyota's pride in reliability make me believe that was the era it could have existed, and that era has passed.

They were mostly trash though. Granted, U.S. emissions requirements and DEF might kill the reliability, but if we could get the reliability of the overseas Hilux diesels in the domestic Tacoma, they'd sell.

There is a reason the Tacoma still has an access cab, still has a manual transmission, why they have a 2 door 'Xtra Cab' model, and why they still offer long and short bed offerings. If there was a market where Toyota would not be putting their reputation for durability and reliability on the line, they would take advantage of it.

That reasoning is dumb, but I like their cause of getting ads out of public places. Could they come to the South and get rid of all the billboards for lawyers?
You would want more government overreach

That kind of thinking is what happens when insane asylums are closed and crazy people roam the streets.
