26 and 35 for 2019.
That's turning out to be a nice crossover. The new ones have a nice interior, but a very dorky exterior.

Eh, I mean maybe. I think cheaper gas has more to play here than MPGs. A Rav4 for example gets 23/30 mpg. That's not anywhere close and still closer to 50% of some of the 4 banger sedans. Plenty of sedans can get 40s now.
Midsize non-hybrid sedans are getting upper 20s/lower 30s city.
A crv gets 28 city
A rouge gets 26
Rav 4 gets 26
That's a far cry from 16 that most of the best selling suvs of the mid 2000s suvs that got killed when gas prices rose. And those are the midsize suvs (explorers, trailblazers, grand cherokee)
The bigger suvs like tahoes, expeditions, sequoias were in the 14 mpg city range.
Eta: a compact sedan like the mazda 3 only gets 3 mpg better than the CX 5, their small (but not compact) crossover.

Good mileage for more versatile space.
I like the new Cadillac XT4 and Volvo XC40 - at least until I saw the ads for them.

Toyota doesn’t really care that this vehicle isn’t selling..

I really don't understand the total move away from Sedans by car companies. I don't think its going to last. Maybe its not hard to move back I don't know? But gas prices will bump up again and SUV's will go out of style.
I agree. It reminds me of the people claiming laptops would go extinct several years ago when tablets and phablets became all the rage.
I'd still rather drive a car, and I'd still rather use a laptop (and a keyboard). And I am not an old guy.

Except you're in the minority. When it comes to actual putting money down, the majority of people are choosing crossovers over cars.
Not speaking to you, but in general: Car enthusiasts are a weird group, me being one of them. Enthusiasts beg and plead for certain types of cars (powerful sports sedans, manual transmissions, wagons, etc) and almost without fail whenever a manufacturer actually delivers on that "demand" they barely sell any cars.
Cars like the chevy SS is what a TON of people in the enthusiast community begged for, then it got cancelled after a couple years because no one bought one.
Some people think it's absurd on its face to NOT have a manual sportscar (or any car really). Yet something like less than 10% of Lamborghini Murciealgos (the last "mass produced" lambo with a manual option) were ordered with the standard transmission. People went nuts when Porsche only offered a dual clutch transmission on the 991.1 GT3s. Porsche brought back the six speed in response but I'd be shocked if less than 80% of the 991.2s come with the pdk.
Go on any general auto forum, especially places like r/cars and you'll see a horde of people talking about sports wagons being the absolute pinnacle of a daily driver vehicle, yet they represent a fraction of a fraction of sales.

My boss just bought 2 plug-in hybrid priuses, one for her one for their daughter. It gets about 20 miles to a charge. So she has to plug it in at home to get to work and then again at work to get home or it switches to gas. That’s too hassle much for me.
And they’re ugly.
And they’re ugly.
