What I have concerns with is how we are going to source all of this material for battery production, and how we are going to beef up our electrical grid to support Level 2 chargers at every home in 10-15 years.

The left views this as their version of the Great Leap Forward. Side effects and consequences don't matter to the leftist elites because they'll be insulated from it all, as usual.

Damn, then it must really suck that an old arse car spanks the Uber modern chassis car.

Not among consumers. Companies are trying to force the shite but most don’t want them

I see you and Obtuse only worry about straight lines.

The CT5V Blackwing beat both the M5 CS and a modified Plaid around VIR in Car and Driver's testing.

Impressive considering the Plaid has shown over 1000hp at the wheels while the Caddy only has 668 crank horsepower.

*Tells me the Tesla chassis is shite.

Watch the video.
Or just go to the end with the track times.

typical excuses I hear after watching people get drug around COTA by some baw in a electric sedan. (not me I actually like fast cars)

Excuse? That 668hp at the crank beat the car with 400+, likely 500 at the wheels, more horsepower around VIR in testing? Point out the excuse.

And better batteries.

No, not better. Bigger, more of them, but the energy density of lithium-ion chemistry has seen virtually no practical improvement in more than 2 decades of research.

Better is more than energy density. The newer models are degrading and performing much better than the older ones. A learning curve that every other auto manufacturer is going to have to go through.

Big things popping. I just reviewed a new battery company that’s getting double digit energy density improvement. They already cleared IE and were funded to start building their manufacturing plant.

But gets spanked at Willow Spring and COTA

Nothing to do with the batteries. The software governing the charge/discharge characteristics and thermal management has improved but battery technology has hit a plateau here with respect to chemistry and form factor. The laws of physics don't give a shite how you or any other EV homer feels, unless there is an order of magnitude improvement in charge rate and energy density then EV's will continue to be hobbled against the ICE in terms of range, convenience, and overall practicality.

Am I the only one around here who doesn’t want an EV?

No desire to own one unless at some point they become better than a gas burner in every way and comparably priced.

I left out reliability which is directly battery related but yes much of the gains are from better management of the battery charge/discharge and thermal control.
