I saw that not too long ago. They're badly due for upgrade, especially the current front end grill design. My primary driver is my 2003 Taco Prerunner with 308,000 miles. Still runs and looks great for a 20 year old truck. I'm holding out to purchase for the 2024 models. Hopefully it's not a let down.

I'm a big fan of the current gen Tacoma - especially the TRD Off Road model.

Not the TRD Pro - those look too cartoonish to me. The regular TRD model is where that truck shines IMO.

Isn't Tesla way ahead of everyone in this regard?

Still has that shitty transmission and horrible gas mileage for a midsize. But I have one so......

I really doubt it.

And the Model S is over 10 years old.

Really?

I'm genuinely asking, because everywhere I go that has charging stations for EVs, I'd say at least 85% of the time I see a vehicle plugged up, it's a Tesla. The vast majority of EVs I see driving or parked in places I shop at are Teslas. Maybe it's because they stand out, but the overwhelming majority of EVs I see out and about are Tesla made.

My wife's next car will probably be their RAV4 Prime. It's a plug-in hybrid with 42 miles of electric range. Her co-worker has one and once went 6 months without buying gas during Covid.

IDK, feels like a great first step for most people. If you work in the same town as your job, you only really need to use gas when you're going out of town. If car manufacturers could increase the range a little bit, I think it would be perfect for the majority of people.

Break em down.

Putting a different powertrain in it doesn't change the overall design any more than sticking a new engine or transmission in a gasser.

It's the same chassis design that debuted in 2009. It's ancient. It's the Dodge Charger of EVs. Old car that they just keep throwing more power at.

What EV out there is better than the Tesla Model S?

Sorry. Tesla doesn't get to change the definition.

It's the same car with upgraded powertrain.

ok. Criticizing a 10 year old car that drives itself seems weird.

Also from the article
quote:

The refresh included a new powertrain, suspension, and thermal management, as well as a new interior. Increased performance and larger rear seats, as well as a yoke-type steering wheel

I'd take a Lyriq over an S in a heartbeat.

Tesla is going to be in a bad spot with outdated product as the rest of the industry unleashes a deluge into the marketplace.

*I'd take a CT5 V Blackwing over either, but you said EV.

Apparently they realized that EV's are catching on way faster than they predicted last year.

Are they?

The same CT5 that’s built on a 10 year old platform? I thought you hated old chassis?

Worst and slowest of the super sedans. It is on top of my wife's list of cars to pull up beside her and rev.

Nope, but as soon as there's an electric HD truck that meets my range needs, I'm on board.

GM Alpha 2 Vehicle Platform
The General Motors Alpha 2 platform, otherwise written Alpha II, is an automotive vehicle architecture designed to underpin compact and mid-size vehicles with a longitudinal front-engine, rear-drive configuration. The platform is a successor to the first generation Alpha architecture, or Alpha 1.

Like Alpha 1, Alpha 2 was engineered with a focus on world-class driving dynamics and light weight, and can be adapted to underpin luxury and non-luxury vehicles. The new chassis was first used by the 2020 Cadillac CT4 and 2020 Cadillac CT5 sedans, and is expected to underpin the seventh-generation Chevy Camaro, if a seventh-gen model is to exist, that is.
