its not mexico labor or training of employees thats the problem with making shitty vehicles that never work right and always need repair.

its that building them in mexico allows manufacturers to import parts from the worst of the worst places for quality and craftsmanship so everything being bolted on is likely to break within the first year its driven.

frames built in south america with lowest grade steel shipped in raw form uncoated on open train cars covered in rust and then spray coated right on top of the rust to hide it is the main reason so many vehicles are having frames rust out in under 10 years

mexico allows manufacturers to avoid and remove all QC over assembly and use the lowest bidder ensuring the crappiest parts possible are used to save money

Mexican Americans don't like to just get into gang fights. They like flowers and music and white girls names Debbie, too

If you were on the fence between a Tacoma or Tundra.. this makes it easier to jump on the Tundra.

Sequoia is currently made in Indiana with the Highlander.

Highlander demand remains strong and they're all made in Indiana for worldwide use. Sequoias are made on the same chassis as the Tundra.

The move makes sense.

Side note: I still find it strange that all 4Runners are still made in Japan given the demand for the vehicle in the US.

So does this mean they will stop selling a mid size truck for nearly 40 grand?

I love the Tacoma and understand it's reliability but dammit man.

They make the highly similar (although not identical, lots of common parts and engineering support) Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX in Japan, still, so that does make sense.

Does anyone know if a manufacturer has ever dropped the MSRP of a vehicle?

If I read the article right, the Texas plant that is losing the Tacoma will be shifting to Sequoia production

Sequoia demand has been pretty flat, but they may amp up Tundra production as well, with the San Antonio capacity.

That is a huge investment by Toyota - those jobs aren't going anywhere due decreased output. Robots could get better, but then that could happen regardless of production shifts.

No - It means they have more capacity to make more Tacomas and Tundras. Maybe at a higher price to pay for the new plant

Audi makes their SUVs in Mexico.

Easy to export to U.S. and labor force that's happy to put in 70 hour weeks.

Wait but Bernie Sanders told me it was the oil industry who was going to capitalize on NAFTA and "destroy our planet from Mexico"

How could this be?

And I think you both mean Huntsville. That plant is being built on land annexed by the city in Limestone county.
