What are some reasons to get the Sequoia over the Land Cruiser?

None, the land cruiser is an absolute tank, an extremely reliable one at that, it sort of depends on your lifestyle though.

Sequoia is a tad bit bigger I believe and is more customizable. The land cruiser has minimal option changes but is an absolute beast.

They’re not in the same class. If you want a grocery getter go for the Sequoia (we have one and absolutely love it)

If you want to save some $ (and that's your biggest concern) then go for the Sequoia. If you want something to get you through the apocalypse and retain a stupid amount of resale value get the LC. LC's are built to a much higher spec than Sequoias. I have owned them. They can go anywhere, do anything.

Sequoia has more interior space.

Both are tanks and will last if you maintain them. But the Land Cruiser has legendary off road capability behind its brand.

Nothing wrong with the sequoia. I believe it has the same bulletproof engine as the LC, or It used to anyway. Which means with basic maintenance and the timing belt replaced every 100k miles it will last forever.

Reason to get it is you don’t need the LC’s god-like off road abilities, but want a capable truck. Oh and you want to save like 45 grand as well.

You should throw the Lexus LX570 in the mix. Doug Demuro refers to it as the Lexus Land Cruiser.

New Land cruiser have a TON of electronics in them. That stuff will likely break eventually. I dont think they are going to be as reliable as the Land cruisers of the 1980s and 1990s.

Lexus LX570

If this what my in-laws have I hate it.

There is no space for anyone near 6' in the front or middle seats. I feel like I'm in a cramped movie theater. Pure hell.

I googled the model they have and felt redeemed by the reviewer mentioning how small the interior is for such a giant car.

I like both, but they are terrible on gas mileage if you have to drive a lot.

Besides the obvious price difference, it depends on how you drive and how long you drive it. Both should get you 200k miles with just oil changes (timing belt/water pump change if pre 2006-2007), tires, and brakes. Off road, obviously go with the land cruiser. Family of 5 for hauling/vacation, go with the sequoia.

I owned an 04 limited. I think I averaged 11-13mpg. Sold it in 08 when gas was hovering at 4.50/gal. I think I was spending nearly $500/mo on gas

Would have bought a Sequoia if it wasn't for the piss poor mpg's 13/17 was absolutely awful.. But the Sequoia would be my choice ..

This makes no sense, your comparing $50k to $88k. They are different classes of vehicles.

Get the LC. I saw a Heritage this week at dealerships in San Antonio and another in Slidell. Get one of those if you don’t need the rear seats.
