Looking to buy a low mileage, used Highlander or Pilot. Probably 2015ish-2019ish.

I know Highlanders are very reliable but don't know as much about the Pilot, any specific issues to look out for?

Like both, but prefer Highlander mechanicals and durability.

We own a 2016 Highlander. No issues at all except the one driving it, my wife! She uses it everyday for her job and puts approximately 50-100 miles per day.

Same, leaning more Highlander at the moment.

My favorite is really the Ford Explorer but I don't really like the whole internal water pump design.

We have had both. I would go with the Highlander. Our 2012 Pilot had rod traction issues in wet conditions and was very loud.

We have a 2016 Highlander and have had all sorts of problems with the sunroof leaking. Its a common flaw.

I found a workaround that involves bypassing the standard drain but I've been waiting for it to cool down before I do it.

Just get a minivan. Just as stylish, more comfortable, and more useful

I don't disagree but I'd just feel weird driving a minivan with no kids

We're fine with a Camry currently, I'm just tired of climbing down into it on trips.

I almost just bought a 17 Highlander, I was set on it. Then a 15 Tahoe LTZ fell in my lap for 25k.

had 2010 highlander and have 2017 Pilot

highlander went 186k miles before i traded it in, no real issues other then accident related issues.

pilot (touring) is go so far. only issue is the stupid auto idle when stopped, but u can turn that feature off....each time you start it

other issues is between 25-30 mph is shifts/downshifts hard at times.....

Highlander! Wife leased a 2016, loved it. Bought at end of lease. Never a problem, more user friendly head-unit & better consumer reports is why purchased originally. Happy owner

We looked at highlanders, that 3rd row was awfully small. I really didn't want a turbo either.

The old lady has a 2021 Highlander Hybrid. Great mileage and a great ride. Traded a 2015 Pilot for it. We like the Highlander much better.

My wife drives an '18 Pilot touring. She has around 100k miles and it's been a great vehicle

My neighbor has a 2013 Pilot I am thinking about buying. It is his wife's car and she has Alzheimers. It is literally the little old lady driven car. It has something like 40,000 miles. We haven't talked about price. I checked and it should be around $14,000? Does that seem right? I am not crazy about buying a 10 year old car but it seems to be in good shape. It has the usual Honda paint fade which is strange because it is parked under a carport.

I always buy older cars, pay cash and insurance is cheaper. Also, you can kind of figure out what issues they're known for by that point.

Had a 2016 highlander. Traded it with 110k on a 2022 model. I’ve had 7-8 Toyotas of different models and kept all over 100k up to a 2006 Corolla with 225k. Total repairs were a universal joint on a Tacoma at 80k and the Corolla had an alternator and front end work around 200k.

Wife had both and now has Highlander and likes it better.
Big thing in older is Hondas had apple car play before Toyotas. It is a game changer and worth gold to use. If unfamiliar it is your phone on your screen and can see and do anything on screen that your phone can.
