Then if everything else you say about your friend is true she's a dumb arse. Using a debit card opens one up to a world of potential problems.

Why did you edit out your last post about you feeling like a hooker because she makes wayyyy more than you and you are moving to where she is at with a job that pays less than half of what she currently makes and you aren't sure if you should make her pay for your stuff now?

I've rented a lot of cars for work and never had this be a problem.

Sure this has been throughly debunked in the 4 pages but I'll add that I've rented cars out of state many times not at the airport.

I've rented cars for personal use in numerous places and never had to show proof of where I live

Just got back from NC where I rented a full size SUV for a week. Paid only $225 at Budget when booking with Costco codes. Without codes the price would have been $460.
Yeah that seems to be the deal. I got a minivan for Disney and a SUV for Arkansas both for $225 for the week unlimited mileage and two drivers. Can't beat it. I rarely go in the store because it's so far from me but I make up for it with their other services.

not to mention having them lock $500 of your funds for two weeks or more.

I'm guessing in NOLA rental cars are often found in canals.

I assumed she was staying with you to drive the stick.
She's just staying w/ him for convenience.
She's renting a car to go get the D.

I got hit with this little tidbit.
Friend flew in to stay with me a few days, and after the fact she decided she wanted to rent a car. I'm going to have to drive her to the airport to get a car because the local agencies won't rent you car without a local utility bill or something like that.
I'm pretty sure that's only if you're using a debit card to do your rental, and it applies to locals too. I've seen people in Enterprise who were getting a vehicle after an accident that were asked to do this.

Any person who flies into MSY and rents a car from any agency has to pay a mandatory airport fee.
