I posted it before, but look at the history of the Utah War and the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
They were rebels / terrorists who fought with the US army just like the Sioux, Apaches, etc.
They lost. They were subjugated. The Mormons you know today are not the Mormons from the 1800s.
