man if there's something I've learned over the past decade is don't try and talk logic to people who are "pet-sessed" . Dogs are almost at the level of false idol with a shocking number of people. Just smile and let them rant.

Pretty obvious when he’s tied to a fence in flood waters huh? Idiot

So you would see a dog tied to a fence in flood waters and immediately think "some a-hole waded out into that damned flood and tied that dog to a fence" and I am the idiot?

The first thing a person who wasn't an idiot would think is "dam, someone tied a dog to a fence and a flood came". Then the non-idiot would begin to ponder how it happened....and would conclude that someone, probably not the dogs owner, found the dog wondering around and, not being an a-hole who steals someone's dog, secured the dog in the area thinking the owner was probably looking for it. But an idiot, suffering from the irrational idea that the world is awash in assholes, would say no, someone waded out into a fricking flood in some sort of evil plot to make an animal suffer a terrible and agonizing death. The fact that so many people leapt to that conclusion is very indicative of the twisted minds possessed by those people. It is the same reason a cat is so jumpy...being a psychopath who enjoys killing shite for fun, cats assume every animal on the planet things like them and will kill them for fun. If you see a dog tied to a fence in a flood and your fist thought is "an a-hole tied a dog to a fence in a flood" it is because you often think of similarly sick shite, just like a cat.

Is this one of those things where you people just can't believe the number of absolute piece of shite humans there are out there?

Its one of those things that reveal that there are a bunch of people who think the worst of other people because they know the dark and shitty thoughts they themselves have at times and conclude that everyone does the same thing and acts on them from time to time.

I believe it. My shitty neighbor left her dog during the 2016 floods. Ended up riding it out on my workshop table. Ate a whole can of food out of my hand when I found her on day three.

My parents had to leave the cat in 2016, just couldn't find the damn thing when their house started filling with water. Somehow that fat cat survived 4 days.

Just saw latest update. He is with rescue, Leon County Humane Society. They posted. The comment by someone that he was RTO was incorrect.

Its basically exactly what happened. Lots of things going on, lots of stress, someone lost their dog for a few hours.

But certainly everyone else's idea of wanting someone to be killed over this is much more logical.

The number of people in this thread who IMMEDIATELY saw an image of a dog tied to a fence in a flood who thought the only logical conclusion could be that someone, in some sort of super villain manner, dreamed up a sinister way to kill a dog that included wading into a flood and tying the dog to a fence, is pretty telling about the thinking that goes on between the ears of such people. That they then began discussing what they obviously think is the inordinate number of people on the planet who would do such a thing is even more disturbing than the original thought. But the truly troubling part is they immediately began to describe what they would like to see happen to this phantom villain which could only exist in a troubled mind and did so in vivid and very descriptive language. A normal person would saw that image would think all manner of things like "that poor dog got hung in a fence and a flood nearly got it" or "someone's dog got lost and someone tied it to a fence and a flood came along AFTER the fact and it dam near ended in tragedy" or some variation.....not "some villain came up with a sinister idea". There are a lot of sick fricks in the world....fortunately most of them only think the worst of others because they know what goes on between their own ears....

I would think someone walked out and tied him to that fence before the flood started, hoping someone else would see him and take him off their hands. It's next to a highway so plenty of car traffic.

If it’s owner were trying to humanely save or surrender it, he or she did a shitty job of it. From the video I saw, the dog was barely visible from the road and had zero slack to move about.

Update:

quote:

We're sure you've heard about the dog who was left on an evacuation route, tied to a pole on I-75.
This storm was huge, powerful, and we're still learning the extent of how much damage was done. We know that without the help with Florida Highway Patrol Troopers with Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles that this dog would not have made it through. We're grateful the Troopers understood he was a scared and abandoned dog and treated him so patiently and kind during the rescue. They immediately wanted to make his life better and ensure his safety, and we're so thankful that animal abandonment is being taken seriously.
Leaving this dog in this way was completely unacceptable and endangered not only his life, but could have endangered others by causing a hazard on an already busy and stressful evacuation route. It was cruel, and it was thoughtless not only toward him, but toward the people who were trying their best to handle the incoming storm.
We can't imagine the situation that ended with him tied to this pole and left him without any hope. It's hard even to think about how scared he must have been as cars raced by, the water rose to his belly, and the storm clouds darkened.

quote:

We wanted to let those who have been following this story know that he is safe and sound, because we've been worried about him since seeing his story. We also want those following to know that we take animal abandonment seriously and will be closely watching his case and using his experience to educate.
His name is Trooper, because of how much he's been through and to honor those who saved him.
We know that many people are going to be interested in adopting him, because he's an amazing dog and deserves the world, and for every terrible person who would leave him like this there are hundreds who would go above and beyond, but right now we aren't accepting any applications or inquiries.
Really really, no inquiries please, we promise to update when he's ready.
He's incredibly stressed and still decompressing. Abandoning a dog like this doesn't typically allow for an immediate bounce back to their happy selves. Most dogs when rescued take a few days to feel safe, a few weeks to come out of their shell, and a few months to become comfortable and fall into a routine.

quote:

We have absolutely no idea what his life looked like before he was abandoned. We want to be sure that we know exactly what he needs before even considering adoption, so he'll be in foster care until we feel confident he's ready for the next phase of life, and that his future will be kind to him.
ETA: We've been made aware there is misinformation circling about this dog, we assure you that he is in our care, he was not reunited, and we worked directly with authorities to take him in.

No, we’ve seen the evil in this world, that is why conclusions get jumped to. If you think the majority of people in this world are good, congrats on your optimism and your naïveté.
