Eh. The flood of 16 moved the amite river and ate my back yard and undermined my house.
Been there. Done that.

Can we come out of our basements yet?
Posted on 12/14/22 at 10:30 am to Ingeniero
Yes. It’s pretty important here in NTX. Make sure you get one that allows you to customize by zip code and type of emergency. That way you won’t be woken up for a storm 30 miles away. The only alerts i receive are tornados and severe thunderstorms. Shut off all others and mine is within a 10 mile range.

JUST IN: SPC upgrades areas along/east of I-55, including New Orleans, to a Level 4/5 (moderate) risk of severe weather. Strong, long-track tornadoes can't be ruled out today. #LAwx #MSwx #ALwx

A number of these cells around metro Baton Rouge starting to show hints of at least some weak rotation. Stay alert...things could escalate quickly and necessitate warnings at any time.

Sayes Office Supply
Y’all our office was destroyed last night. A tornado hit the building. The good news is, we’re open for business, online. The aggravating news is we won’t be able to make deliveries today. But, we are working on a game plan and will be back to normal very shortly. Meanwhile, if you’ll place your order online, we’ll get them to you as soon as possible. More information to follow.

St. Bernard schools dismissing 45 min early today. Kids had exams this morning.
That means my kids schools will dismiss at 145 / 215.
Looking at radar... some disreet cell activity will already be here by that point.

Out towards Central/Baker area, looks like the sky is finally darkening. Still no rain.
Looking at radar on WAFB, I'm slightly NW of the big band hitting the BR area.

I find it hard to be dismissive of the weather pros, especially last night when a woman and her eight year old daughter were killed. Our NW Louisiana forecast was accurate.
