Hope everyone in LA and MS stays safe and alert tonight. Can’t help but think of the Mayfield incident this time last year

Training supercells was the worry for this one. We're seeing them now.

Why did the storm line stop advancing East? It seems to have stopped. It's stuck in the NE corner of Vernon Parish, the home of Ft. Polk.

I was hoping to be able to stop worrying about tornados here at Ft Polk by now.

The main trough driving this system is a really slow mover. It is putting on the brakes, which is expected.

Outside of the tornado threat, the usual places will likely see a flash flood threat, as well.

Upper level steering pattern is out of the southwest and parallel to the front. This is what the big rainfall total worries Wednesday morning were about. The line wont start moving again until this big upper level longwave trough finally shifts east bringing flow out of the west and kicking the front through.

We also have higher temps and dew points across Lousiana (places yet to see rain/storms) than we've had all day. Surface winds are ripping out of the South at 20-25mph+. Which means any storms out in front of the line will continue to be a threat.

Over time you can actually learn the tendencies of each WFO if you watch long enough. For instance the Memphis forecast office is pretty trigger happy and oftentimes as storms move from north MS (Memphis's area) into AL you'll notice warnings drop off and neither Birmingham or Huntsville ever warn the storm and there's no reports of an unwarned tornado

This is the opposite for Monroe with Sleepy Shreveport handing things over to Action Jackson.

On 11/29 an unwarned line of storms moved through Monroe and immediately became warned by Jackson as it left Ouachita Parish. Shreveport didn’t even have a Special Weather Statement on it.

The same this just happened tonight with the unwarned line becoming warned by Jackson.

If you want to see a WFO roll out the SWSs, follow Huntsville when this rolls through, or any time.

My personal pet peeve is Memphis with the "A thunderstorm producing a tornado......" line on every single TW.

Guess it’s time to catch up on some sleep. This thing is moving slowly and I want to be alert when it starts rolling into the western BR suburbs.
