So I contacted the previous boat owner and even though the NWS put a F3 rating on that tornado as it went over that marina he said they didn’t have any damage and it seems to have “hopper over” the marina a bit then gone back down on the other side of the river in the land between the lakes

Not sure of the dynamics involved with that but sounds like maybe it lifted for a short time

Hopefully, we will see something on the surveys in the Fort Campbell North and Pembroke areas today or tomorrow. NWS Nashville is handling that one. That storm/tornado crossed the TN/KY line and eventually ended up in Bowling Green. I'm interested in seeing what it did between Dover, KY and Pembroke, KY, specifically.

Speaking of NWS Nashville.. they have quite a few tornado surveys up worth looking at at this link

including this 1...

quote:

.STEWART COUNTY EF2...

RATING: EF2
ESTIMATED PEAK WIND: 125 MPH
PATH LENGTH /STATUTE/: 22 MILES
PATH WIDTH /MAXIMUM/: 400 YARDS
FATALITIES: 0
INJURIES: 1

START DATE: 12/10/2021
START TIME: 11:54 PM CST
START LOCATION: 3.5 MILES WEST OF THE LAND BETWEEN THE
LAKES AT THE TENNESSEE RIVER / STEWART COUNTY
/ TN
START LAT/LON: 36.5136 / -88.02799

END DATE: 12/10/2021
END TIME: 11:59 PM CST
END LOCATION: FT. CAMPBELL ARMY BASE / STEWART COUNTY / TN
END LAT/LON: 36.644 / -87.665

SURVEY SUMMARY:

THIS WILL MOST LIKELY BE A CONTINUATION OF A TORNADO FROM
WEST TENNESSEE THAT MOVED THROUGH THE NW CORNER OF STEWART
COUNTY, TN AND INTO SOUTHERN KENTUCKY. THIS TORNADO CROSSED THE
TENNESSEE RIVER WEST OF LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES AND DID MASSIVE
TREE DAMAGE TO HEAVILY WOODED AREAS UPROOTING THOUSANDS OF TREES
ALONG ITS PATH. THE TORNADO CROSSED A WELL CONSTRUCTED SINGLE
FAMILY BRICK HOME NEAR BEAR CREEK WHERE IT TOOK OFF THE ROOF AND
TOP STORY. IT THEN CONTINUED TO TRAVEL NORTHEAST WHERE IT PASSED
INDIAN BRANCH AND MORGAN BRANCH WHERE IT CONTINUED TO UPROOT TREES
AND DESTROYED SOME FARM OUT BUILDINGS AND LIFTING THE ROOFS OFF
OF SOME SINGLE AND DOUBLE WIDE MOBILE HOMES. COMPLETELY FLATTENING
SOME BARNS AND SINGLE WIDE STRUCTURES. THE MOST WIDE SPREAD AND
WORST DAMAGE IN STEWART COUNTY WAS BETWEEN INDIAN BRANCH AND
MORGAN BRANCH...SOUTH OF BUMPUS MILLS. THE TORNADO THEN CONTINUED
NORTHEAST ONTO FT. CAMBELL ARMY BASE AND MOST LIKELY INTO
CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY.

I agree. It was the same way for April 27. They prelimed every violent tornado and waited for him to raise the rating. I'm not sure their reasoning for it if there are other qualified people that regularly work with him who could adequately do the job.

I'm all for consistent ratings across the years, even if it is only done by one person.
Hopefully this keeps out any ulterior political motives to classify an event as something different than what's been done in the past, just to give some illusions of "climate change".

interesting that the NWS Paducah is highlighting the Special Weather Statement put out almost an hour before the tornado got to the region to say there's a tornado heading this way

not yet... still putting the lines together

ETA: that said... this tweet does seem to confirm that the tornado was on the ground all the way through the Paducah warning area

That is an average forward storm speed of 57 mph!

The debate is going to focus on the TN/KY border. I can tell the argument is already going to be if it is tornado damage or RFD/Strightline winds. It seems the damage in that area is minimal and mostly tree damage.

To be fair, the same debate will always go on for the Tri-State tornado.

Wanna see that get blown away? Watch for any storms that develop tomorrow in Iowa/Minnesota.

Cant blame em for spiking the football a little. The forecasts and warning leads were fantastic.

problem is... the public never hears about "special weather statements" and I don't know if a meteorologist could really effectively translate that "statement" as a "warning" to the public

In this case, i suspect the statement was for media because youre right the public probably doesnt know what the hell a special weather statement is.

Wow. Hope the farmers had already been paid.

How do you even begin to clean/save that??

Luckily they had insurance on that to cover the payment to farmers.

They had already done 120k modules and had another 20k left on the yard to gin.

They are trying to repress the modules to send to another Gin who is going to process there.
