I've never known there to be sirens in Monroe/WM. Granted, in my lifetime there's never really been a situation for them to be used until now. We always get strong storms but we rarely have serious tornado threats like this

We have sirens all over the place and after you have been through an F5 tornado, that sound will make your blood run cold.

I fully expect to hear that sound tonight. I went and got my Valium refilled this morning because I knew this shite was coming our way.

Y'all should just get home and prepare your safe place in an interior room with no windows and a mattress and pillows to hide under.

Everyone at the plants would be running outside to their huddle locations.

No basement here unfortunately. Just a closet under the stairs.

We keep an old twin mattress and some pillows and a weather radio in there at all times.

Ruston installed them a couple years ago. Bossier's city council was looking into them but the mayor opposed them and I don't think it went further than that.

You sure about that? Shreveport doesn't have a siren system.

some loud arse sirens were going off last year when we had a tornado south of town

it wasn't emergency vehicle sirens either

I know other OTers heard them because we talked about it as it was happening on here
