All TOPS payments were stopped immediately Thursday because of the uncertainty surrounding the state's budget crisis.

The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance alerted colleges and universities at 3 p.m. via email.

"Due to the possibility of state budget cuts, all TOPS payments are being suspended immediately until further notice. More details will be provided as information becomes available," stated John W. Bell, TOPS Awards and Renewals Manager via written statement.

Patrick Taylor would be ashamed

Sucks to Suck

49th Best state in America

Actually it's probably a good thing if it lasts. It'll stop all the worthless fricks who go try out college for a year because Tops pays for it and end up dropping out.

Wow. Glad I graduated when I did! I'm surprised they didn't at least try to tighten up the requirements first. Seems kind of drastic.

What that means for students and parents is that every student who is currently receiving a TOPS scholarship could end up owing the remainder of the semester’s tuition that’s not already paid.

“In other words, if nothing changes, TOPS awardees will owe tuition to their schools for the current semester,” said Ashley Arceneaux, an aide to LSU President F. King Alexander.

Wow. TOPS was my saving grace in college.

With that said, any non-minority is now really fricked when it comes to obtaining any sort of financial aid.

ETA: Enjoy your white privilege.
