Neighborhoodscout? Minneapolis?
NO has a homicide rate 5x as high (from the data linked in the article)

I know that everyone in this thread has ragged on NOLA enough, but I'm going to tell a semi-long story while being as rational/brief as possible:
My entire adult life, I've wanted to own an old-school Victorian home in Uptown NOLA. I love the architecture and there are so many awesome bars, restaurants, and people in the city. And I get that crime isn't as bad as it used to be. The thing is, crime is down EVERYWHERE across the nation. Relative to the rest of the country, NOLA is a fricking mess crime wise. It's even more significant than what's being reported as our police force is underfunded despite VERY high taxes.
About two years ago, an ex of mine was sexually assaulted walking home from a bar on Tchoup. A neighbor fortunately saw the assault and chased the perpetrator off. She called the police, and they didn't show up until about an hour after it occurred. The police officer basically said "It sounds like it was just a guy trying to get his rocks off, he didn't rape you, so no biggie." She called the police a week later to check up on the case. Care to guess how much progress had been made? It goes beyond "zero", as the officer that responded to the assault didn't even make any reports on the matter. A sexual assault that could have easily turned into a rape if not for a neighbor WASN'T EVEN frickING REPORTED.
So between the bullshite crime issues, increasing property costs, and increasing taxes, I have drastically changed my "goals." I've become an engineer, which will eventually make me a valued (and semi-wealthy) employee. Between the bullshite going on in NOLA and JBE's inevitable tax increases on businesses and the middle/upper-middle/upper classes, my updated life goals not only don't include NOLA, but they don't include the state of Louisiana. That's insanity considering how close I am to my family and friends along with how much difficulty I have making new friends. Five years ago, if you told me that I would leave SELA for a job, I would have told you to frick yourself. No longer. What should be one of the best cities in the country will only be hurt by people like me (and people wealthier than myself) deciding that the benefits don't outweigh the tomfoolery.

Lol at all the poors who can't afford a good area of Nola.
One could get into the Warehouse District (the safest area in the city, one of the safest areas in the state) for about $200k if single. To get into a good family area in NOLA (Lakeview excluded), it will cost about $400k. It's difficult for the middle class to get into a good area of NOLA.

I don't think $400k gets you a single family home in a "good" area. And I'm OK with that.

There is only one "good" area of New Orleans you silly jabroni.
It's near the lake.
It's near the lake.

The apathy in New Orleans is amazing. Most people know that they can be a victim of crime and nothing will be done about it as the NOPD is useless. They accept the crime along with the potholes, bums, corruption, etc. as part of living in New Orleans. Despite the thrird world crime and infrastructure, people are still willing to pay more than $200/sq ft or $1k in rent to live there. It doesn't make any sense.

No, it doesn't. All the people I know that live there, and have all their lives, are saying it's getting worse. People don't have their head in the sand as much as you think.
They know it's bad, and getting worse, but most are tied to jobs here and family. Moving away for a job isn't a big deal, but New Orleans families don't do well when they have to leave town. Especially the frickin women.

Got to live where there isn't teenage thugs roaming the street brah. shite ain't cheap. I wish I didn't like New Orleans so much, but I can't commute to work from Grand Isle so I'll stay here for now.

Not you wise, but if anybody wants to come get some, I'm at Lucky's bar on St Charles. I'm about to roll on this group of blacks. I'm not the guy who you talk shite to without consequences. Panthers, so bring it if you want it.
I'm not the type to frick around, so if you catch me before this next ten minutes, I'll roll with you. Otherwise, I'm fighting four blacks. Gimme a warm up pussy

Crime is the city's #1 issue, but it is not statistically worse than it was years ago.

His response was way more intelligent than saying the city needs anther destructive hurricane. You know the type that displaced people. Then saying only those with jobs can get back in. Pretty much no one had jobs in the city for a few months after, everyone had to transfer out the city or wait for their company to reopen.

It's getting harder and harder to find a street free of roaming teens. The thugs know the NOPD won't respond to a call until hours later so they're going wherever they please. Most of the recent robberies have happened in the Marigny and Carrollton area which are both full of >$500k homes.
