It looks like an overlay on ceramic tile. If it's floating, you've got to get them snug before trimming. When I did my parents bedroom I left my expansion gap under the quarter round on one side but had the rest of the floor snug an right. No problems.

Seriously, what the hell is that?

Use some stain approximately the same color and you will not notice it as bad or at all.

Is moisture causing it to buckle? Shoulda put that protective layer between it and the floor/ tile.

If it's glued, you may be SOL.
Maybe some wood putty that matches the color of the wood to try and hide it? Or try one of those stain pens that will stain that light part to not make it so noticeable.
I'm not a flooring person, that's just what I'd do.

I would take the baseboard off on one end and knock the pieces together. You may have to wood glue the joints coming apart since the lock is damaged. This is assuming a floating floor.

Does that work with women, too?

Take the quarter round of at the end of those two rows with gaps. Use a pull bar to try and close those gaps.

This is my vote too, and use glue like previous poster said if the tongue is stripped. I'm installing laminate in my entire downstairs right now, and I've gotten to be BFFs with the pull bar. Lifesaver.

Yep, and you may have to take the baseboard off along with the quarter round depending on how far to the wall the floor goes.

What the hell is wrong with the texture on the ceiling?
That texture is common in TN (Nashville area).

There's still a problem even if it's floating. You should get a total of .25" contraction at most for an entire 20' section of flooring. To get that much in one spot seems like more going on. Is this a concrete subfloor?

Get a bottle of wood glue put some on the butt end. Go near the wall and kick the plank till it interlocks. Wipe off the excess glue. Do this till you get tired if doing it, rip it up and put down something that glues or nails in place.
That's speaking from experience.
