haven't seen ambulances leaving the scene

That really doesn't mean anything
Means a lot. Ambulances don't move dead people.

After listening to the air traffic controller audio that was posted in this thread...
I would completely buy the reasoning for this crash being...
- helicopter cleared for visual flight... told to watch for the plane in question (sounds like ATC warned the copter about traffic)
- pilot finds the next plane in line for landing and tracks that 1... not the plane ATC had warned about... doesn't see the 1 it crashed into at all
Whatever the cause... truly a sad situation

Update 1:21 p.m. ET Jan. 30: U.S. Army officials said that two pilots were killed in the crash. The male and female pilots’ bodies had been in the fuselage in about eight feet of water, The New York Times. A third crewmember, a male staff sergeant, was recovered earlier.

Considering this is a mass casualty event, I’d imagine they transport bodies the best way they can.

It was in response to a picture of the mayor of Wichita.
Maybe.

Sam could definitely be female (short for Samantha)... not that it really matters

The inaccuracy of information in these threads is amazing.

Congrats to tBoat.
I take no pride in there being a woman pilot in the helicopter. But I got the same hate after saying the guy who crashed his helicopter and killed his family in Lake Charles was inexperienced and bit off more than he could chew and that a terrible Asian crew crashed the plane in Korea but here we are again.

I was called out for a "special" assignment a few years ago to remediate a Navy helicopter pilot named Christopher, who insisted upon being called Kristen, as it was in transition

This is the flight path map CNN and Fox have been using.
Yellow is helo, orange is plane.
Based on that tweet, the helo flew route 1 and was transitioning to route 4. It looks like max altitude on route 1 is also 200.
Is the recommended 1500 (right above the junction) for route 6?

truly is, especially in ones that I have expertise in the subject but I think in this case they were referring to one of the military pilots
