I’d argue the average OTer had very little interaction with this idea or trans people in general in their day to day lives
How many times have you posted in thread much less every other trans thread???
It seems to be very personal topic for you.
Excluding the OT how much day to day interaction with the idea or with trans people do you have?

Tell me 5 day to day ways that effected you.
It doesn't, but it affects others. I don't know why one's day-to-day has to be the qualifier to be concerned about something. Here you are incredibly concerned about this bias against transgender people; what's that got to do with you on the daily?

And in what way has your day to day life changed?
Well, I'm on guard for people pitching a suicide cult to my boys in school, media, church, the doctor's office, general public...something that parents probably didn't have to worry about 10 years ago.
quote:
they aren’t pushing the idea that trans people are dangerous and violent.
Well this makes no sense but I know you know that. They're pushing the idea that being trans is a thing and that transition can help rather than hurt people. They're bringing these concepts to my door, and in return, I'm asking what the negative consequences of this bizarre push might be.
quote:
we don’t get many threads about posters kids schools. We get threads about random schools in the midwest or california.
The stories that make the news come from those places. But I don't know why a story about a public school in the midwest shouldn't be of significant interest to a parent...anywhere? Beyond that, my family members in places like Frisco, TX regularly tell us about the claimed trans kids in their classes, how they're asked to handle it by the school, the use of "neopronouns" etc.
What I find strange is that you're probably a person of some intellectual curiosity. You don't have your head in the sand in most things. Yet this novel development, the explosion of "trans" people within a decade or so (especially youth), the sudden decision by American institutions that men, for the first time can have uterine cancer or give birth, etc. - is minimized and not of importance to you because it mostly doesn't impact your day to day life.
But wait, that's not exactly true, is it? You're regularly and consistently on the "other side" of these discussions. You're invested in these conversations and post quite a bit about trans issues, yet the topics don't really have any meaningful impact on you, so why do you care?

almost none.
which is why it’s crazy to me
how much people hate them.

I think all of that can be discussed in a civilized manor, but I don’t think this is a civilized manor.

The KKK doesn’t affect you but you disagree with that idea.

Do you truly believe what you say here or are you just a sad bored man looking to get a ride out of people like an a-hole cop checking inspection stickers?
Nvm I just figured it out

I'm just baffled at the "effect" discussion.
You know a very basic thing about humanity. Everyone knows it. It's not questioned for most of human history. It just is.
Then, within a short span of time, all the voices of authority begin telling you a lie about the thing that turns the thing entirely on its head. It's a lie nobody has really attempted for hundreds of years and that the large majority of the world scoffs at - and they're not only telling you the lie but they're more or less asking (sometimes demanding) you go along with the lie, trying to teach the lie to your kids, putting the lie in everyday life via entertainment, etc.
You're not supposed to make a big deal about it because at the moment the lie won't have an immediate, daily impact on you?
Seriously, what the hell is this reasoning?

Tell me the truth, do you feel like this thread has be about “asking” about the negative consequences
of this?
I try very hard not to make big sweeping policy decisions on anecdotal evidence.
Not every cop just wants to
murder black kids. Some
cop shootings are absolutely justified. Some are not. I know everyone believe I am just a lock step liberal, but i am not.
I think abolishing the police is a fricking dumb idea. I am against medically transitioning children including harming blockers until a long term test has been done to show how exactly reversible the effects are.
I understand children are impressionable, and this puts more stress on parents to explain.
At the same time, the amount of vitriol regularly in these threads is disgusting.

Ever notice how you are the only one bothered that these threads get posted?

You are so misguided that even the so called centrists here have avoided this thread like the fricking plague
Do some self reflection

I don't know. I won't wave it off because it's not happening to me or anyone close me. It's real for others.

He either just gets his kicks from arguing or is mentally broken.
