I'm a bit shocked Bush, Obama, Trump (sans today) and Biden haven't all had a bullet fired at them

Already posted above, but Wikipedia and found a few more

quote:

May 10, 2005: While President Bush was giving a speech in the Freedom Square in Tbilisi, Georgia, Vladimir Arutyunian threw a live Soviet-made RGD-5 hand grenade toward the podium. The grenade had its pin pulled, but did not explode because a red tartan handkerchief was wrapped tightly around it, preventing the safety lever from detaching.[103] After escaping that day, Arutyunian was arrested in July 2005. During his arrest, he killed an Interior Ministry agent. He was convicted in January 2006 and given a life sentence.

quote:

November 2011: 21-year-old Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was influenced by conspiracy theories and fringe religious viewpoints to attempt to murder Obama. Having traveled from his native Idaho, he hit the White House with several rounds fired from a semi-automatic rifle. No one was injured, but a window was broken.[112] He was sentenced to 25 years in prison

quote:

June 16, 2016: Michael Steven Sandford, a British national, attempted to grab the gun of a police officer at a Trump rally in Las Vegas, Nevada. After his arrest, he stated that he had aimed to assassinate Donald Trump with the gun. He was sentenced to twelve months and one day in prison,[122] but was released and deported to the United Kingdom after eleven months

It's nuts for sure. It's not exact evidence, but the polarization to follow will support what many have said about "what if we had another JFK" or "what if we had another 9/11" - I have a hard time seeing any meaningful rallying/unification (although I think then conventional wisdom that it'll help Trump is true).

We're very far apart.

I really don’t feel like reading through 49 pages of the thread but kept up with the early events before doing some work in the kitchen.

I hear Trump is fine now which is good. Any official word on everything else? Shooter confirmed dead or arrested? Any word on any other victims?

TIA to anyone who can reply to this message with the latest, I appreciate it.

My point is this:

After years of baiting this precise thing, when scores of elected US officials are probably pretty disappointed the assassin missed, it's extremely trite to trot out lines about America being above political violence.

This was promoted, desired, etc. by a fairly influential swath of this country and many of its institutions. Reprisals would be common in pretty much any prior era here or elsewhere.
Reprisals?!?!

Are you fricking insane?!?!

An AR is just a .223, not much difference, you wouldn't even shoot at a buck with less than a .308

What the frick are you talking about. I am a Trump supporter.

The .308 v .223 discussion related to nothing but buck hunting.

For that matter, I would also be horrified if President Biden were shot. That's not how we do shite here, or we shouldn't.

Firearms are exclusively for training, hunting, self-defense, and in order to maintain a well regulated militia should things come to that.

I'm sure you're hyperventilating because your radicals just made life difficult for your cause.

But I'm not calling for reprisals. I'm saying the concept of us (America, modernity, etc.) being above them is incongruent with reality/history.

The American left desperately wanted this to succeed. There aren't a lot of societies where an ideological group would push for the murder of a leader, undertake the effort, and not face said reprisals.

Are you seriously trying to claim that a .223 couldn't kill a man at 150-200 yards?

They say the most danger weapon is a US Marine expert rifleman with an M-16 within 500 yards. 5.16 is close to or is same size as a .223 so yes .223 is plenty within 150 yards. What a dumbass

Does the SS use .308 snipers or are you being facetious due to the gun argument ITT?

I think they probably use some variation of the Remington 700/M24, which can come in 7.62 but I think the US Army might use the .300 Winchester Magnum.

Edit: I see your note about “before condemning it.” Is this a “you apologize first” thing? Silly

Don’t be so obtuse.

He as President of the entire US has been a huge part of the problem. The Biden administration is doing what they tell their supporters Trump will do which might be why the rank and file Dems believe it so easily as they see how it’s possible. If he wants to lead the country he needs to acknowledge his own failures (if he remembers them).

quote:

But own the rights labeling too ffs.

I dislike Biden and the left because of what they actually do in power to this country and it’s children. Most have shown they do not like this country or the rule of law (they do like lawfare). The left and other TDS sufferers hate because they are told by other leftists and Dems what Trump will do and become. They are the masters of using the tactic of labling people …ists and …phobics solely based on political ideas not actual actions. Except for Twitter recently They also have controlled the message on social media and old media and been able to censor and cancel opposing political views with same false labels.

EDIT: This is just one of the long standing examples that have made me dislike Biden. They are worse with him doing them for long in public office. That being said I haven’t never wished him dead.
