The biggest perk to being a SRO is having the entire summer off.

Every day including a half day on the 4th

Off Thursday and Friday. Need a couple days for my sunburn to heal anyway before I spend another few days on the boat.

Been off last 6.5 years. Worked many 4ths. Retirement is worth working all those holidays.

Not only do I have to work Monday - Wednesday, I have to be at the office in a teams meeting my customer, a Chinese company, doing a HAZOP from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm all three days.
My boss is cool though. She said don't come in until at least after lunch. So I went to the gym this morning, answered some emails, had lunch and then took a nap. I'm here at the office now. Gonna be a long and boring night.

Currently watching soccer and recovering from a pretty big knee surgery. Honestly, I’d prefer to be working bc it would mean I would be able to move around and exercise. Non weight bearing on crutches for at least 6 weeks kinda sucks.

Also vacation destinations arent busy those weeks
My favorite day to take off is Monday just to burn a day. I get to miss a bunch of meetings and beginning of the week activities.
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to travel during non-peak times of the year with kids in school, but ours are almost done, and we'll take full advantage when it's an option.

More than once people would ask, ‘why don’t you take Fridays off and have a longer weekend?’

My wife wants to go to 4-8 hr days when ours are off the payroll. She wants Monday off too.
I'm fortunate enough to have a good bit of PTO, so even with vacations I usually have a bunch of days I have to burn.

We are off Thursday and Friday....my boss doesn't work well in the heat so he keeps us in the office after lunch. So basically 'working' half days until Thursday.

On call for the 4th. But I get a free vacation day for it
Hope nothing comes in and I just watch mlb and eat chicken wings

Yes, I'm a freelancer. If I am not working, I am not getting paid.

By “ours” are you referring to kids? If so I’ve got some really bad news for you

Start nights tomorrow. 7th day in a row so it’ll be double time. Last night is Thursday which also double time and 9th day in a row.

Last day of work today. Officially retired.
No more zoom or teams meetings, no more planning sessions, business reviews, sales meetings, etc.
Sold the company last year and am done at 58.
Feels really good.
